I am looking to upgrade my wheels and tires from stock. After looking into the pros and cons of alloys vs steelies I have decided that alloys are going to be the best option for me. The extent of my off-road use will be over-land type trails, unmaintained FS roads and the occasional 'light' crawling. Nothing too aggressive. I LOVE the look of basic steel wheels. I understand there are several steelies made to look like alloys. But what about alloys which look like steelies? My truck is super white and I want to stick with black wheels. Alloys which look like steelies.

I have found thus far but am open to opinions on these as well as opinions and recommendations on others

Pro comp 7069 or 8069. I believe the only difference is flat black vs polished black

I am going to have an OME kit with 883 coils and Dakar leaf pack with additional AAL in back as I am going to have a CBI F bumper with Warn M-8000 and CBI basic rear bumper. Vehicle will also have cap and witll often be loaded down. I have also decided on 285/75/16 tires. Want something I can keep on all year which will also do well in snow. Have been leaning toward Duratracs. Open to recommendations. I am hoping for the wheel/tire combo to be drop-in with no trimming, cutting, or grinding necessary. I do not want to run wheel-spacers. I am alright with minor rubbing should it occur at full lock when loaded.

I'm all about anti-bling........just installed 7069's and Toyo Open Country AT2's last week. I love the set up, went from MTR's with Kevlar and I feel like I'm driving a Cadillac. They are still load range E and are stiff but I just realized the MTR's were overkill for what i do.

That is def. the look I am going for. Your truck looks badass. These wheels are drop in? The pro comp? Just need to get 'Hub centric' spacers and a certain type of lug nut it sounds like? No rubbing on the calipers as these are designed for the 1st gen Tacomas? Anticipate I will have rubbing and/or need to trim with 285/75/16? I am def. leaning toward the Duratracs. Sounds like they are a solid AT tire which is snow rated. I would love to have a set of winter wheels and tires and a summer set of wheels and tires but I am going to be living out of this truck for some time so I have to stick with one.

Truck is gonna be loaded down with quite a bit of gear. Someone recommended I get the 10mm enhancer kit for the front right off the bat? Someone also recommended against it. I would like the truck to have a bit of forward rake (like factory) when unloaded, and level out a bit when loaded down with gear in the back and on top of the cap. As I understand it. The OME kit will level the truck. Tack on the AAL to the Dakar pack and it will rake. Will the 10mm enhancer kit level it unloaded? Causing it to ride high in the front when loaded?

Yep bolt right up, I didn't get the spacer. Although I ordered pro comp lug nuts after much reading I found out there could be problems. I then ordered the black chrome lug nuts from Wheelers which are extended thread style and they centered the wheels right up. Mine is heavily loaded down with rear CBI with swing out, hi lift, HEAVY shell and a bed drawer system loaded down with another 100lbs of stuff. With the Dakars and the AAL I still have a ton of rake and I have the 882's in the front with only and ARB. I did trim a lot of plastic a few years back when I went to 265/75's on the stock, sagging suspension. Well the tires sort of self-clearanced.

Good thing is the 265 MTR's in load range E weigh about a pound more than the 285 Toyo's in E. Go figure. Either way I am very happy with the way it all came out. There are many more running these wheels with 285's.

I am by no means an authority with the info some of these folks have but the key to the 7069 in 16x8 is the 4 inch back spacing and -12 offset. These have the tires about an inch and a half off of my stock UCA's with 285's when the stock wheels withy he 265 MTR's were way closer. These are almost a perfect fit for 285's on a 1st gen. Any less and you rub everything and any more and the flares will catch hell.

Also they fit the brakes with plenty of room. I wish I would have done this 6 months back but chickened out and bought the MTR's, now I have to unload those before the wife will let be buy anything else truck related!

I am hoping that with the lift I will not have to trim. I am leaning toward the pro comps. Do I need the 'hub centric' spacers and a certain type of lug nut? I am newb as a newb can be and am coming from a background of zero vehicle knowledge. Hoping to figure out exactly what I need to order! Thank you for the help :)

Don't know much about the spacers but I don't need them. The problem is the lugs are short on Tacomas and you don't get much thread with those wheels and the regular acorns so the spacer will make that worse I think. I would get the Wheelers ET style 12x1.50's and you will be fine with no spacers. Search 7069's in the first gen builds and regular 1st gen forum and you should find plenty on what I am telling you about.

    Good luck.
