On a stock suspension, 265/70/17 actually looks pretty good. Just got some Firestone Destination AT's in that size and it looks much better. Didn't notice any power loss at all. Do it!

Those wheels look really good on your Tacoma but I have some questions as I just picked up a set of 4Runner Trail Edition tires/wheels for my 07 DC TRD Off-Road truck

    Any clearance / rubbing issues?

Did it use the same lug nuts?

When I look at your truck I see the painted mirrors and door handles but a chrome rear bumper instead of the painted one. Do you have a Sport truck or did you swap out parts.

No rubbing that i'm aware of, wheels came with lug nuts. But no tpms and mine would'nt fit. It's a sr5, replaced handles, painted a used grille and my mirrors. Just like the looks of the chrome bumper. Thanks for the comment, I really like how it turned out, now looking at a small lift next.

I just purchased a 2013 double cab 2.7L, 4cyl Tacoma. The stock tires are 215/70-15. I do no off-road driving, but put lots of miles on my autos. I bought the 4 vs 6 dues to the mpg and price of gas. The look of the truck looks peculiar to me with those small and skinny tires. I have a few questions...
What is the largest tire (15) that I can use without mods?
Should I or could I go with a larger wheel/tire combo?
Should I consider lifting? What would be the smartest move here?
Would any of these options have a negative effect on the engine/drive train/steering systems?
    Thanks

I was looking for pictures of something similar to what I have that has been modified, but haven't found any yet.

im running 285/70/17 terra grapplers with no lift, 17x8 rims +10 offset no spacers, minimal rubbing, minimal triming, removed all four mud flaps and the two small forward flaps

New to the site, about to purchase a Tacoma when I get back to the states. Is the rubbing during normal driving or when off road? How much did you trim and where?

the rubbing is during normal driving as well as off road driving. on full lock i have rubbing on my uca and i also get a small bit of rubbing on plastic somewhere, i cant pin point it other than that i dont run into many other rubbing issues. i removed all the mudflaps and also trimmed the very bottom of the front flare about half an inch, other than that these wheels and tires ride well perform well stuff well i am happy with them i just need to get my lift

On my son's 2001 Tacoma TRD are wore out 265/70/16 all seasons tires. I hope I didn't mess up, but just bought a set of tires and stock wheels 265/75/16 with Daytona Stag tires- (similar to the firestone destination m/t). These look to be only an inch shorter than the 255/85/16's I have on my 03 double cab TRD with a 3" lift.

So experts, will they work on the 2001 tacoma extra cab with stock suspension, or did I screw the pooch and now have an extra set for my rig ?

The site tire calculator shows they're close in size, but they sure look tall and I have 4 days/160 miles till I'll see if they fit. thanks

finally found the thread i was looking for. thanks for all the info folks. I have 2012 with 265/65/17 and want to go up to 265/70/17. Are all 17" wheels the same? Or will different wheels be wider and therefore cause rubbing? If so, what other specs do i need to pay attention to to avoid rubbing? I am looking at getting the KMC XD Revolver with either the Nitto Trail or the Duratracs.

5100 Billy's set at 2.5"on the front, 1.5" A.A.L. on the back, Undercover tonneau, 35 tint on the front 5 on the back, LED interior lights, Ultragauge, and more to come
    Aloha All,
New to the forum, fresh from Hawaii. Just picked up a 2014 dub cab Prerunner.
Had a question on tire sizing. I'm looking to change out the stock rims and tires with customs. I'm not looking to add a lift, so wanted to know the biggest tire size I could add without any mods. I was planning on buying some 18x9 XD rockstars, or 18x9 XD Misfits. Was going to go with some 275/60r/18 tires. The stock rims are 18" with 265/60r/18 tires. Does anyone have experience with this combo or know if this setup will work with out rubbing?

    Mahalo's!
    Scott

Im running 265/75/16 terra grapplers with slight rubbing at full steering wheel turn. I'm at stock height too btw. I wouldn't go much bigger without a lift.

Is there any significant difference on MPG going from stock to 265/75/16? I have 245/75/16 on.

I'm a mathematical doof... if I go from a 16x8 KMC back to a 16x7 stock wheel, I will receive 1" in height in my reasoning...currently running a 265/70r16 BFG AT KO one each, recently did the all round Billies...I figured the 1" diff in width would result in an inch increase upward...am I correct...

***Noticed little to no diff in MPG going from a 245 to a 265/70, but a 265/75 may be diff...???

I have not noticed a drastic change in gas mileage, it really just depends on how aggressive you drive :D
