I have 2006 tacoma, can you tell me please if I'm missing something here, I was trying to remove my spare tire but I couldn't, is there a socket or something the goes with the metal rod to lower the spare tire?

Everything looks to be in order unless you have a lock on the spare.

You'll have to get under the truck and look for the part at 2:08 in this video. You should be able to see it just before the spare tire. If it has a lock it won't look like the part in the video, but if it does look like the part in the video the hook should fit right in.

Make sure the hook goes into the indent that is in your last picture, then just spin counter clockwise with the tire iron.

I can't make it out too well in that picture, but it doesn't look like it has a lock on it. That hook should fit right into there, and you should be able to lower the spare just like the guy does in the video above from 2:15-2:45.

I tried again and it didn't work, something is missing at the tip on the rod, don't you think?

Yeah, you're missing the "captain hook" lol. Put that on the end and that will give you the leverage you need to crank and lower the spare.

You hook all those pieces together to make one rod. Put the hook end in to lower the tire. You use the curved part in a slot to lower it. It just fits right in, it doesn't hook to anything. The wrench hooks on to the end to use as a crank.

This is what the lock looks like if you have it.

I don't have that part! Is there a place I can get from? I'm going camping for 4th July and I don't want to get a flat without all the tool kit.

The pic you took of your truck doesn't show that part. So you don't need it. Just put the hook end straight in above the bumper (in the slot) to that part in your pic above. Turn it till it catches in the slot and turn counter clockwise.

You have everything you need. And from your picture, you do not have the lock. Now the hook extension goes on the very END. This "hook" will act as a large screwdriver... In the middle will be the two straight extensions. And on your end the wrench has a slot to connect perpendicular so you can turn counter-clockwise. This will release tension and lower your spare tire low enough for you to lift the tire and pull the retainer out sideways.
