Original Tires - Treadlife

I'm at about 28k miles and I still have the original BF Goodrich tires. I know a set of new tires are in my future, but I'm wondering how long I can put it off.

For those of you who didn't swap tires the day after you got your truck, how long did your originals last?

 

I have almost 35k and still have the originals on, but I am sure that is due for a change coming soon enough, but I hope to wear them out.

 

just to say....the bfg all terrains you have arent originals, someone got rid of the rugged fails and put those on before you got it.............originals were the bfg rugged trails i had on my 06 when i got it, and they were shot at 22k!!

 

You made me question myself! The tires on my truck are BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/As. That means they're original, right?

 

yep....the rugged trails are oem tires, and they mostly come on the offroad trucks, with some offroad trucks, coming with the dunlops. the sports mostly come with the dunlops im pretty sure....and either way, both are a rather junk tire, just my opinion though of course.

 

About 21,000 miles.

Bridgestone Duellers and I've done 38k. Still got plenty on them.

 

Dunlop's made it almost to 50k. It was a looong ride! I'm glad they are gone.

 

48233 when i had the stock tires just rotate them and they last

 

i replaced my rugged trails with BFG ATs at 8900 miles.

 

My Dueler H/T's are at 27xxx and are going to need to be replaced soon. Can't wait!!!

 

my taco almost has 30k on it now and the original rugged trails still have a good amount of tread left.

 

My Rugged trails lasted 45k before I decided to switch to a mud terrain tire.

I think I could have gotten 50 to 55k out of them if I had to....

 

The original tires I had on my 5-lug was recalled. It was on the truck for about 1k. The tires they replaced it with was on the Tacoma for about 15k and then I got BFG put on.

 

In my 3 4WD Tacomas:

30,000 is the top for Rugged Trails... any more and you start getting flats... It's not worth it to stretch them over 30K.

Cooper Discoverer ATR and Toyo Open Country A/Ts are very good... quiet, will give you closer to 35,000 miles.

Want a mean looking tire, Cooper Discoverer STT... will give you 40,000 miles but are very noisy on the highway.

Want cheap/ good tires? Pep Boy Dakotas (made by Cooper)... only good for 25,000 miles, but pro-rated for 50K so the next set is 1/2 price... good all terrain tread.

So, there you have my personal experiences... When the Rugged Trails are ready to replace on my 2010 Tacoma, I am considering Mickey Thompson BAJA ATZ tires! (Hey, I met the man in 1974 and pitted next to him a few times, so why not?)

 

At 26k I lost control of my truck on a wet highway, while in the right lane, driving completely straight. I power slid over the median and now I have to replace a bent spindle.

 

what stock tires did you have? whatever was on my taco when i got it shoulda been recalled too!

well i voted 20-25k and mine didnt even last that long haha. all though i was the base 2wd came with firestone continentals wost tire ever.

got a flat every week for about a month, one of those i some how punched a 25 cent sized hole in the side wall.

tread was really bad i was all over the road when it was wet, would get stuck in everything on dirt roads.

i made it about 15k when they were toast than i bought some AT's off my buddy they were better.

not i was falkens amazing tires (street tires) way better than the stock and AT's in any terrain!!

 

Currently have 39k miles on the OE tires. Still waiting for my wheels to come in so I can finally mount my Toyo A/T tires because these Rugged Trails are getting dangerous in the rain!

 

Im at 44,000 miles on the Original BFG rugged trails. Mostly Hwy driving. These things last for a long time thats 4 sure.
