I am running some of the Mickey Thompson STZ tires. They have been great.
Also Dick Cepek has some good ones, and Nitto just came out with a new A/T tire as well.

The ST Maxx are really nice tires. The only thing is they are really heavy and only come in Load E. So they may be a little heavy and stiff for some.

For the miles you are driving, I would get Michelin AT2s.

I've had Cooper AT3s, BFG A/Ts, and now BFG KM2s. Love all of them, the AT3s had a nice sidewall pattern and was a great highway tire. BFG A/Ts were great on the road and they last forever on toyotas

Tire questions always seem to end up with people just saying what they personally have. A lot of these suggested tires look great but IMO would be terrible choices for 1000 miles a week.

OP if you're putting 1000 miles a week on yours you should really consider the ms2 michelins. They aren't aggressive looking but they are by far the best on road tire available.

If you don't like the look of those the next best high mileage tire I'd say would be the toyo open country 2's. 65000 mile warranty, look great and handle well on and off road.

You didn't mention if you do any heavy towing or off-roading but if you don't then no need for an E range tire, you'll just be adding weight and losing mpg's with no benefits. A P rated tire can do nearly everything you need it to except for maybe tough ffroading where you need thicker sidewalls.

This is true, I guess I missed the part about 1000 miles a week. If I drove that much I'd get the Toyo's. I don't have first hand experience with the Michelins.

I had great results with Nitto Terra Grapplers in 265/70-17. On road and off. I do 300-400 miles per week and my MPG were no different with these AT tires than they are now with Bridgestone Dueller H/L street tires. If you get tempted for a street tire, do NOT get the Dueller H/L. Compared to the Grapplers, they are noisier and handle the same on road but offroad they'll get you stuck on anything other than hard packed dry dirt.

I agree with the Michelin MS2 part. Amazing tire on hwy. Great traction on wet pavement.

I do some very limited off roading, but lots of dirt and blasted rock back roads. I have the E rated and love them.

I don't know about the togo. The mileage warranty is nice but aren't they pretty heavy, which would kill mileage? If you want an AT tire instead of the Michelin MS2, look at the Michelin AT2.

I currently have the Grabber AT2's. I like them, they are fairly quiet but hurt my MPG quiet a bit.

I don't do a ton of off roading and mostly just gravel access roads for camping.

    I am looking at the:

Michelin LTX M/S2 <- ran them before and they are amazing (but not aggressive).

Michelin LTX A/T2 <- seem like a good tire with great reviews.

Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventure <- looks like another good highway/AT tire with great reviews.

I will also give a +1 top the michelin ms2. I had them when I first got my truck. Awesome tire. For for moderate offroad, and awesome especially in heavy rain and snow/ice. And they look pretty good too. They also last a long time. A little expense up front, but a great all around tire

    Ms2 in the snow:

The Michelin MS2 is a great tire, but it's not aggressive at all. It's a street tire. I thought this thread was more aimed at an offroad tire that looked good and didn't perform terribly on the road. I'm running the Cooper ST Maxx's which have excellent on road manners but still perform and look like an offroad tire. Another option I had good luck with were Falken Rocky Mountains (a.k.a. Wild Peaks). I think those look pretty good (definitely better than the MS2 IMO) and they're very affordable.

At the end of the day, he's going to have to compromise somewhere, either with looks or with on road quality. Enlighten me if I'm wrong, but there's no aggressive 1000 miles a week mud street tire that I know of.

I went with the michelin AT2. They don't get a ton of love on here compared to the MS2. I'm 90% on the road the other 10% is some cart roads and some beaches... They are a little noisier than a highway tire but not overpowering...I think the only downfall I can speak of is the price...
