Nitto Trail Grappler 285/70R16 on Stock SR

Nitto Trail Grappler 285/70R16 on Stock SR Wheels. ToyTec BOSS Suspension (sits 2.75" over stock) and no cutting or trimming required! I have tested them off road with no rubbing at all but at full lock it is very close to the UCA and I may go with the Bora 1/4" wheel spacers that are hub and wheel centric... not sure if I want to waste $$$ and I really don't think it will be an issue... I also have the mud flaps on and there is no rubbing! Tires are smooth on road and very quiet! They have slightly more noise than the stock tires and handled great in the rain! I didn't get to test them out in the mud yet but I hope to soon! The diameter of these is equal to 265/75R16, just a little wider.

Actual specs:
Size
285X70R16
Load Rating
10
Diameter
31.89
Cross Section
11.5
Max Load
3640@80
Tread Depth
18.9/32

I ran the same size with a minimal lift, full lock & stuff and no rubbing. I loved that tire.

These seem to be the max for stock wheels without the need of spacers and cutting/trimming... and you can leave your mud flaps on if you like without any rubbing also. Nitto seems to be the only manufacturer with this size. They were $277.00 each mounted and balanced.

This guy just said he put 285s on 16 inch rim with no rubbing so why not on a 17 inch?

It's a different size rim. Different size tire choices. He's saying the closest size would be 265/70/17.

If you want 285/70/17 you will rub without trimming

Max width - yes, height wise you could go 255/75/17 which is taller and more narrow.

You mean 265/75/r16? If so, pretty much the same size as the Nitto Trail Grapplers 285/70R16, the Nitto's are around an inch wider.

But he was asking about 285/65/17 not 285/70/17

If the 285/70/16 works as indicated in the OP, then 285/65/17 will work also. The widths are identical and the diameter is actually a touch smaller.

However, you will have a hard time finding 285/65/17 tires. The trail grappler is definitely not available in this size.
