Highway tires that look "off-road"

    Haven't seen this question answered in the billions of posts I've read. If it's out there just tell me where and I'll shut up......

    My 2010 TRD Off-Road double-cab is in need of new shoes. I've gotten about 55,000 mile on the factory tires. When I had an '05, I went with Destination A/T 265/75/16. They looked great, but I have recently moved and I put about 75 highway miles on them everyday. No more gravel or any off pavement driving (1% maybe....). I need good highway driving tires that will still look good on an off-road truck. Good in rain & must be good in snow, & will last.......

    Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

    bilstein set at 1.75, Racho 5000 rear with 4 leaf kit, floor mats, high lift jack, pull hook in hitch, bed rail corner braces, severe duty brake pads and devil horns on the grill....
    Michelin LTX and LTX M/S are probably your best bet...

    Some stupid expensive stuff
    Highway tires are all going to be pretty much the same, they're made to roll well forever. Maybe look at some longer lasting all terrains. Slightly more aggressive but still have tread life ratings and will not completely kill your mileage. There are all terrains that seem to bridge the gap between highway and more aggressive A/Ts like the Hankook Dynapro ATm or Goodyear Silent Armor. Both of these will be good on gravel and snow, but not too aggressive like the Duratrac or Cooper ST Max

    Thanks for the suggestions...... Should I stick to stock size, or jump up to 265/75/16? If I go bigger, the Michelin LTX M/S2, for example, only come in LT, not P. Does this matter.....???

    UPDATE - Nevermind. They come in P........

    I'd rather run LT tires on a truck than P. Toyo AT2 is good, hankook dynapro ATMs are also good. You can go up a size on stock suspension if you keep your stock wheels, you might have to remove the flaps

    LTX M/S2's are fantastic highway tires. Snow traction is OK for a non-winter tire. Better than most non-winter tires.

    Hankook Dynapro ATM, may be my favorite ... but this and the others mentioned are called "ALL TERRAIN TIRES", not highway tires that look "off road" (highway friendly, quiet but work well in mud, snow, dirt, sand, etc.).

    Too much "off road" look and you have a mud terrain type tire and it will be noisy on the highway. I went with one such tire back in 2006, the Cooper Discoverer SST. Looked great for off road, was noisy as hell at highway speed... it was also terrible in sand where I do most of my four wheeling.

    I have enjoyed other brands of all terrain tires as well: Toyo Open Country AT, Cooper Discoverer ATR, Destiny Dakota AT. I do not like BFG All Terrain TAs, but they are the most popular AT tire.

    I'll be jumping to Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10 in P265/70/16. I drove 20k miles in the year I've owned my truck, have no need for LT tires, so I'm upsizing but sticking with P Metric with an AT tread.

    I too am in the same boat as the original poster of this thread. I would love to stay within the stock range tire size but have a more "aggressive" looking P rated tire. Would jumping up a size or 2 from P245/75/16 to either P265/70/16 or P265/75/16 make a lot of difference in terms of being sluggish or losing a lot more MPG? I understand bigger = more tire weight but how much of a lb. difference means a significant and noticeable difference?

    The AT's actually look more rugged, the MT's look like highway tires.

    +1, my brother-in-law just put a set on his Taco and they look great. Much more off-road looking than the old LTX's.

    Toyo's are also good, but it's been may years since I had a set. Things may have changed.

    I didn't know Michelin made MT tires, unless you are talking about the MS2 which is really a highway tire.

    But here is a pic of Michelin LTX AT2 tires. To me it looks like a highway tire. It doesn't look aggressive at all.

    Sorry you are correct, i meant the MS's as highway. AT's are a bit more rugged, but definitely no duratrac / KM2 / etc. They are about as rugged looking at a bfg at/ko

    The p rated Toyo A/TII might be good for you. They look more aggressive than h/t, but have a 65k mi warranty...I am leaning this way for my new set...

    I was between the LTX M/S2 or the Toyo AT II..... I decided on the M/S2, so I called the closest Discount Tire to see when they could get them in ($171 a tire). He said they could get them in this afternoon, but he also told me about the Yokohama YK-HTX. Said they were designed for DT, and are exactly like the M/S2, but better. They also have a 70,000mile warranty, and are a little cheaper.........

    Anybody have any experience with the YK-HTX???
