According to BFG, they don't make the tire in this size. What gives? That's a very popular size... I ran these tires on y Ranger and loved them.

So if I liked these, what's something similar that comes in 285/75/R16?

BFG is phasing out the original KO, and introducing the KO2 in about 15 sizes to start. They will bring the rest of their sizes out sometime next year IIRC. That information is straight from a BFG rep 3 months ago. The new version looks like the ATKO and Rugged Terrain had a baby....

Doubtful. BFG spent 3 years of R&D on this tire before beta testing it for another 2. They addressed some of the areas of improvement the original had (irregular edge wear, occasional sidewall de-lamination, etc.) if I weren't so dead set on the KM2's for my Wagoneer, I'd put a set on her.

Honestly I hate mine. The new KO2's are the same tread pattern. Not sure how the rubber compounds compare but I don't see a difference. I have maybe 3k left in mine... Going with Coopers I think. They are a damn good looking tire though

I hate them in the rain and in the snow. I can't say what they are like off road because I don't "off road" meaning I don't go out searching for areas for fun. I'd like to try some areas soon though. Easy beginner stuff just to flex the truck a bit. Anyway they suck in snow and ice too... They wear well and handle on the road well.

To each their own. ATKO has been my favorite A/T on the market, and I've driven on almost everything currently out there (D-Tracs, Hankook ATM, Cooper ATP, A/T3, etc.) I have noticed in almost 10 years of tires, is that misapplication is the biggest reason people don't like certain tires (across ALL vehicles) my #2 choice would be the Cooper ATP. Best of luck in your upcoming purchase

I find the tread pattern too tight for the snow. They seem to fill up and not clear well. I don't air down, our roads are snow covered December to March. So I don't want to F around airing down and filling up.

Probably would help, they are done anyway. Almost slicks now. Pretty dead set on the ST Maxx's 255/80

OP, I'm seeing that size on the site...

I had a set a while back and snow was where they did the best. No issues at all on unplowed roads or off the road in deep snow.

Compared to Mickey Thompson all terrains or Duratracs, the only place the BFGs didn't do better for me was icy highway.

Generally snow tires are designed to pack with snow. Especially dryer snow. You actually get better traction. Now if you are driving in the hills in deep snow, chugging along breaking trail, you might want a tire with a more open tread. But, I have watched trucks with worn out tires do better since they are not digging as much and staying on top of the snow.

Again for your average highway with snow on it, you usually want a tire with a tighter tread pattern and lots of siping.

    Siping!

The tread on the BFG's has very little siping, also if you look at a true snow tire a lot of the tread "lugs" are pyramid shaped...
The cooper ST maxx have a tiny bit of this on their interior tread lugs

Now picture BFG's used up a bit with no siping and not clearing snow... Slicks!!

These came stock on a ranger fx4 lvl II I had. Gripped enough in the snow to push it with the bumper on an unpaved road. 30,000 miles on them at the time and the truck didn't have any lockers.

What do you mean phasing out? Like its going to be discontinued? No way thats true, arent KOs the best selling AT tire?
