The all new BFG T/A KO2 is coming.. (First sizes should hit our inventory Nov. 2014)

We had a chance to test the tire in Baja Mexico for a few days earlier this week. Before we share our experience, we want to hear your initial thoughts. What do you think?

My thoughts are, same out dated tread design, with a different sidewall.

Sidewall doesn't look as blocky. Do not like the new style. I purchased a set of ko's two weeks ago worried that when these hit you won't be able to find them. I think these will not sell near as well as the originals. My$.02

    Agreed
The new commercial shows them conquering snow... I've shared my thoughts about my BFG's. Even when they were close to new I thought they were bad in snow/ice/wet.
I have no idea what the difference is between these than the last other than the sidewall.
Interesting to hear what people who run them will say.

I like it. Looks like a good mostly street/light trail tire. I tried emailing BFGoodrich a couple of weeks ago and they did not respond. What is the differences in the compounds? Are they still going to offer a C load tire with 3 ply side walls in a 265/70/17?

I agree with all previous statements. Looks like the same tire with similar yuck sidewall tread like the Rugged Terrain.

If they can keep the same characteristics of the old style, but give a little better grip on icy roads they will be about as close to perfect of an AT tire as you can get.

Too bad these weren't out a couple of months sooner.

I like the looks. If it gets good snow traction and wet road reviews this will be my next tire.

When are these actually going to be available in stores and what sizes will hit first? 285/75/16 hit last? Was looking to go back to bfg's but don't think I will make it 2 months lol.

Relentless Armored! Too many others to list.
Still looks outdated, too much interlocking elements and not enough open to clear mud/water/snow through the pattern. Also looks like they saw the popularity of the duratrac and decided to try and mimic with beefier sidewall and edge lugs to make the tire look like more of a hybrid MT/AT.
I'll wait to see some reviews or test a set in person before throwing money down and buying a set myself. Many other great tires out these days, and several other new ones about to hit market as well(nitto AWT, Toyo RT, etc)

They're supposed to last a lot longer on gravel roads than the A/T KO according to their website. That and better winter traction makes a good tire.

Haters gonna hate. They may not be the best all purpose AT tire out there but you can't go too far wrong with them unless you need a mud tire. They're an upgrade from stock, and very tough and reliable. I'm digging my michelins right now and like the looks of the Cooper ST Maxx for an AT if I were going to go back to the AT's.

Opinions about tires are very user specific. If you live in the mountains and drive 90% on fire roads, in snow, ice, & rain and trail your rig hard on rocky terrain some tires will be terrible for you vs. others. If your truck is a DD and you only see 10% dirt and it's all dry desert & sand then same applies as far as some tires being terrible and some being great. I always laugh when the haters say a tire is terrible across the board when it was only really terrible for them for the way/conditions they ran them in. Pretty sure there is not one perfect AT out there that will make everyone happy! Lol. BFG KO's have always been a good DD tire for me that works well in So Cal desert and lasts 50-60K...but that's just my opinion :D

I used to be a fan of the AT's since I ran them for many years, until I looked at them from a rain/slush perspective. The AT's do not have good water escape grooves, they almost trap water. This past summer I drove on highways during a high rain event for 5 hours, and I was very glad I did not have my old AT's.

    UPDATE:

BFG will release their new All-Terrain T/A KO2 in two phases. Phase one(1) is scheduled for November 2014
and phase two(2) is scheduled for March and April 2015.

    KO2_zpsa0a72722_7126f7b5d8c8e6942024323a189af90dfa38ed97.jpg

In other news, BFG dropped a new All-Terrain T/A KO2 tire from 10,000 feet and drove away on it.
Guess the spot on Playground Earth it hit and you could win a set for yourself.
