Thanks guys, I have the brand new Duratraks in a 285 70 17 now but I can still return them with in 30 days or 500 miles. I'm looking into getting these Cooper sttmaxx tires instead. 255/80/17.

My 285's rub under articulation, but it seems like no one is having any real issues with the 255/80/17's.

I've had the duratracs for a quite some time now. The only things I like about them is their ability in the snow and the tread life. Everything else has been a big disappointment.

Have you tried puting the wheels on the ballancing machine to see how they are? Maybe it's the wheels or they are bent?

This was my first winter with the Maxxs. We had a good amount of snow this year and both on road and off road I had great success.

Time to come to the other side :boink:

For now they're great. But I want a bigger tire down the road.

I Just purchased some new wheels for my truck 17" Method Double Standard and am now looking at tires to compliment them. My truck is primarily a road warrior with very few offloading just recreational. I am looking for a nice aggressive tire thats not too loud and doesn't affect my mpg too much, from what I've read the Cooper ST Maxx may be right for me?

I was looking at discount tires eBay sale and noticed I could get 2 sets of 2 Cooper ST Maxx 265/70/17 LR E for $364 after the $100 off promotion. Would this load rating of "E" be too much for me as I don't really haul much? I didn't see any other load ratings is this size.

    Thanks

I'd say go with a lighter tire. The ST Maxx is a heavy, durable, aggressive all terrain. If you don't off-road I'd get something lighter. I lost a little MPG switching to the ST Maxx, but they are pretty quiet and have good on road manners.

I've heard good things about the Cooper AT3. Hankook Dynapro ATM has some good reviews. I wouldn't go with the older BFG AT KO, but might try the new KO2.

My buddy runs those on his Jeep, they were great tires, but wore super fast. I bet he didn't get 30k out of them. They were the MT's though.

I was torn between the 275 and 255.
    I wish they made a 265/75/17
Not sure what I'll go with next... I didn't want to cut but the extra meat would be nice for the summer months offroading. The 255's are nice for winter though.

I think the ST Maxx will wear like iron. I only have 3,000 miles on mine and they still look brand new.

    Yes.
No never just the wheels, I'd thought about it tho. But I've never hit or done anything to really mess any of them up (Not to say that every wheel made is balanced well).

Side note: I'll say again now riding on these new BFG KO2's Load C's, I believe they ride similar to the Maxxs as far as stiffness. I was expecting at least a little better since the Load C are 6ply vs 10 Load E Maxx. When they were mounting these KO2s I was comparing the sidewalls to the Maxxs (while both were unmounted), they both are real close as far as thickness and flex. I believe there's more meat on the Maxx's tread too, which I guess could soak up some of the road bumps and balance it out similiar to the Load C KO2 ride stiffness. But I'm happy to say it's no longer pulling, that sucked. The KO2's have a smoother roll compared to Maxx and Duratrac.

What would be awesome if they would/could start putting out Load C and E tires that would ride like P's.
