Really, I'd look for some 34's! I know Toyo makes some 34's for 17's(285/75/17), maybe they have an equivalent for 18's since your set on the 18" wheels. The 33's look small on the 6" so if its either 35's or 33's, I'd go for the 35's hands down despite the possible need for trimming or reduced power and acceleration.

With the VSC option on the 09 models when you go with a 6" lift it requires you to go with an 18" wheel. Toyo doesnt make a 34" tire.

I was quoted $1400 to change gears in both axles. This is not an option at this time and I am unsure at this point if any trimming will be necessary.

While I'm sure most will agree that the 35's look awesome, my personal experience was the 35's just weren't worth the trouble.

I had the 35's for about a week and went back to the 33's. The35's required much more trimming and cutting than I wanted to deal with, the speedo was off 7mph @70 with the 35's. The truck has almost a stock "feel" with the 33's whereas the 35's were much less civilized. One man's opinion to be sure, but that was my experience with 35 vs 33.

The 35's will require a little more cutting but only rub at full turn. If you get a streetable all terrain tire then you should be fine. I went with the Pro-Comp xtreme all terrains and they behave very well on the road. The 33's will be cheaper to replace later on (which you should also pay attention to the mileage of each tire). The Pro-Comps advertise 40,000 miles and everyone that I have talked to say they get more than that. 33's don't look horrible with the 6", the 35's just fill the well a little better. I debated for months before going 35's. Good luck!

MAJOR TRIMMING required. Inner fender/bumper, and I trimmed my Body Mount in Front. And Getting up past 70 is no Biggie unless you want to pull up at the pump every 5 hours :)

Personally, I think the 33's look good. I would rather play it safe and get the 33's as they wont have any issues at all. As oppossed to the 35's that will rub and require trimming. Start with the 33's and if you want to go bigger later, no problem.

    uhh...everything? lol
i highly doubt that 35s are that drastic on the gearing, power loss, and mpg. MAYBE in an automatic, but i still have my doubts. I do agree that 34s would be the ideal choice , 295/70 is like a 34.5" ish by 12" tire size that nitto makes in the Terra Grappler.

You cant argue with common sense and/or personal experience. I have a strong desire to get the 35s but I think the fact that I dont have to cut anything or worry about the possibility of rubbing has me leaning back to the 33s. I can always change them out later if I chose.

This looks like an ad for the 33s versus the 35s. I think its unanimous that everyone agrees that the 35s look better. But Im not ready yet for all that cuttin, regearing, and degradation of performance. SC will eventually be installed but I have to rob another bank first. I have to mentally commit to what I want this truck to be and how much Im willing to spend to get there. I have to many other toys/hobbies right now to commit all my resources to just this one vehicle.

If you still need tires then I say get the 35s I have them and have no problems at all. Sure I needed to trim a little but how cares. I race my brother with the same truck with 33s at least every other day and we are neck and neck everytime. I hit 90 with no problem, passing is awesome and no regearing at all. I love it!!!! Just my ..2

Icon Coil-overs, TC UCA, with Bilstein 5150 and Icon 3 leaf pack. 17" Moto Metal 951 4.5" Backspacing wrapped in 285/70/17 BFG AT's. Demello front bumper and Avid offroad sliders.
DUDE!! get a 34" Tire, it will solve all of your issues. Not as heavy and as bad on gas mileage as 35's yet will fill the wheel well better then the 33's. Also you shouldnt need any trimming with the 34's. They are rare to find but I know Dick Cepek/Mickey Thompson and BFG makes em with an 18" rim. Look up tire size 305/65/18.
