Will they fit without spacers?

I just bought a 2011 4 door Tacoma with stock 16"rims and 255/85/16 tires on it. The front shocks have what looks like 1 1/2" spacers on them. Im wondering if I can run this tire with out the spacer installed. The tires have about 25k miles left so I really dont want to change them until there semi warn out but I dont like the look it has right now nor do I like getting everyones high beams every time I pass someone at night.
My goal would be remove spacers and run these tires until there toast and then go with a shorter/wider tire.
Thanks and I love the TW site..

They would no doubt rub... Keep them until they are worn Id say. That's a tall tire and will rub

    Maybe try selling them?

I'm guessing the rear isn't lifted. You could put an add a leaf in the back to return the truck to stock rake.

Or just take it out, sell the tires for a few bucks, and put on a normal size tire.

Your right Bmoose, the rear is not lifted. Not sure which direction I want to go with it yet but I do know I dont like the front higher then the rear..

if I remember correctly 265/75 and 255/85 would be the same ish diameter right? with the 255 being slightly narrower im just not seeing why it would....

    255/85 are about 1.5" taller

If you're driving around on pavement and never leave the road they might fit OP. Not sure about fully turned wheel... You would probably definitely rub at full lock and would have to adjust for a shorter turn radius

I figured they probably were adjustable but im more concerned with lowering the front end back to the stock look for now. Guess Ill have to bite the bullet and get a new set of tires.. Thanks..

On stock rims, many people are able to run the 255/85 with no rub...even when flexing. Do a little searching if you want. I would t bother selling the tires. Take the lift out and see what happens. If it rubs, then sell them. If it doesn't then just enjoy the ground clearance.

No. Without a lift in many occasions. Lifts that do nothin but change ride height have no bearing on whether or not a tire will fit. The wheel still travels the same arc and bottoms out on the same bump stop so if a tire fits, it fits. A lift just makes tires that are going to rub anyway rub less on the street.

I have the same size (255/80/17)... Sure I could drive straight down the road with no lift but that's it.

Hence my statement 'on many occasions'. What rubs and what fits seems to be very specific to each individual truck. My guess is that manufacturing tolerances and alignment has a lot to do with it since the 255/85's are a very tight fit even when they do fit.

Also, you run spacers, don't you? That makes the rubbing worse because the arc that the tire travels is wider than it is when stock. 255/85's fit a lot of trucks on stock wheels with no spacers.

Only because I was rubbing on my UCA. Why that was I have no idea... I had 275's with no issues

I won't be able to put my flaps back on for winter either I don't believe.

Haha, yeah, I'm pretty sure flaps have to go either way. Weird that your 255's were rubbing the UCA but not the 275's.
