Hey guys, I have a 1st gen 2.7l 5spd with cooper discoverer at3 tires. Im wanting some nice tires for mainly road and a little bit of mud and trails, but I also want them to not weigh 60lb a piece. It is a 4 cylinder and my daily driver that I drive 240 miles every weekend for deer season. I am in Ga and heard that the Ga clay clogs up ATs easily. I have found the information below of the tires im thinking about only in a 265/75r16 till I lift it:
    stock tires: 38lbs
Cooper stt:54lbs only in load E
    Bfg km2: 53lbs only load E
    Good Year Duratrac: 45lb

Ive wanted the Coopers for a while till I found how much they weighed. I see a bunch of you guys have the duratracs and I think they look somewhat nice, but id like to have a MT. Do I need to just stick with the all terrains for somewhat better mps since I will only see mud maybe once a month. Any help is appreciated.

the wrangler authority should clean well, and is an AT with a load range C option.

Thanks, they look like the cooper stt but some how they're an AT. Now I cant decide between duratracs or the authority's? Both look good though?

Cooper ST Maxx is a good intermediate tire to look at also.

I had my ST MAXX's in some gnarly clay a few weeks ago and although they balled up they cleaned out really well and gave me great traction.

Thanks guys, I just don't like the look of the st maxx though.

Also, what size lift will let you fit 285s on a first gen?

Out of the tires you listed I'd personally go with the duratracs. We've gone through a few sets at work and haven't had any complaints. Just remember that all truck tires are a compromise between offroad traction and on road manners. The better offroad the worse the tire will be on gas and noise.

Have you tried the at3s in mud or you just heard they wouldn't work?

    My at3s do pretty well.
