    Hey guys,

I just bought my first Tacoma, a very well taken care of 01 Sr5, 3.4L. This truck will be doing plenty of highway driving as well as some trails for hunting/hiking in NH, Vermont and Canada during the summer months. I want to move up to larger rims and tires from stock and do not want to have to lift the truck but I do want it to look beefier and be abit more capable. Does anyone have any recommendations on a rim type/brand as well as a tire size? Any help on this and any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm new so please bare with me.

265/75/16 duratrac wranglers. A nice all season tire. Very capable off raod. The 265 is a nice size to move up to. That's what I did soon after i bought mine. No need to change suspension.

As far as wheel brand, there is tons of good stuff out there. You'll have to do a bit of research. I went with Ultra wheels. No complaints.

Toyo MT's. Heavy suckers but they haven't let me down yet. 50K on these and they are still running. I believe MeefZah is correct though. Wheels come down to your personal preference. Have fun!

No shit. My 11 4x4 was a 245 Dunlop. Well if 265 is stock, go to a 285.

265/70/16 is one of the stock sizes for a first gen. 265/75/16 is the largest that can fit on a first gen w/o modifications

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/wheels-tires/67550-largest-tacoma-tire-sizes-stock-suspension.html

both my 03 Xtra-Cab 4x4 and DC 4x4 had 265/70/16 stock judging from the original spare they both still had (rugged trails) - I got the 265/75/16 cooper discover ATP's from discount tire because everything else was out of the budget. Not as agressive as some but they seem to do pretty well. No rubbing.

2nd on the duratracs, I absolutely love mine, amazing in the snow and great offroad, look awesome too. Not to noisy at speed either, really thought they would be bad but they aren't

    level kit,air raid intake,
I have the 265/75/16 Dura Tracs on my second gen , stock rims and they rub inside when sharp turns,I am researching now to replace rims and tires, any advice or opinions appreaciated.
I don't do much off roading, thinking about the same tire or maybe some toyo open country tires.
P.S. this set of Duratrac has 81k miles and not bald yet, just getting a lil noisy.

Same question. I'll stick with stock 245 tires but need something is good for 60% highway, 30% gravel/dirt road and 10 % rugged deactivated logging roads and mudholes (moose hunting).

What's the durability of Dura Tracs?

What about Toyo Open Country ATII?
