Ya, they effect the gearing a fair bit. You can run them without gears on your auto (1337Taco is) but a regear will be necessary if you want the full performance of the truck. Some 4.56's would be what ya need. I've got the 6 speed manual so i can compensate a bit for the tires by shifting myself, but I'm working on regearing mine too.

Consider what type of driving you are going to do in the snow. If you are highway driving, then an AT tire is probably a good choice. If you are going to play off road in the snow, then an aggressive mud and snow tire is a good choice. One thought on 'desert or dirt' off road tires; somwtimes they may not work as wel in the snow as a tire designed for winter use. One last comment, check out the 'SNOWFLAKE' rated tires. Tthrough an industry tesinting process, they offer a higher degree of traction on ice and snow than normal M&S rated tires.
Also, remember to carry chains, tow strap and survival supplies in your vehicle all winter, for getting stuck or sliding off the road in the middle of the night in a remote area may result in hours of waiting before a rescue arrives.
    Happy trails...

I got a quote from a azusa dealer today for 1100 buck for the tires to be installed. Does 258 tire for the these tires seem expensive. The size of the tire is 315/70/17.

Need to add the Falken WildPeak A/T to this list. They are getting great reviews and come in a HUGE variety of sizes. Supposed to be great on the street too.

My next set of tires will be these puppies in 295/70/17.

For anyone who is shopping around for a new set of shoes for your taco...Sears does price matching, even for internet sites. I found this out as I was getting quotes for Duratracs. The cheapest set i found was on 4wheelparts.com. Just make sure when you bring the quote to Sears it is the out the door price including shipping and any taxes.

There may be multiple threads about this but none have answered this question.

Does anybody know where to buy Maxxis Bighorns in the south?
(besides ebay, the price for shipping alone is $200)
