    Heres a good write up...

    Reading through the forum, I have not noticed many threads or opinions from folks who have used Big O Tires. Here is my experience in the hopes it may help someone making a tire decision.

    First set of Big O tires was purchased 40,000 miles ago. They were Big O All Terrain tires ($600). Fought them for about 20k miles. They just wouldn’t balance right and the Tundra would shake at highway speeds. At 20k, Big O pro-rated them out for another set of Big O tires, “Pathmax”. Cost me $200.

    19,000 miles later, the Pathmax tires are completely worn out. The tread is gone. The tires had been rotated, and the front end is tight. Big O’s “famous warranty” does not cover tire wear.

    Bottom line: $800 dollars and bald tires at 40k miles. For that money I could have had a good set of name brand tires that would still have some life left in them.

    Insult to injury: After one visit to Big O, next day I was on a hunting trip and I noticed the Tundra acting squirrely. Looked in my review mirror just in time to see the left rear wobbling around. Stopped the truck. Two lug nuts had been sheared off. The remaining four were hanging on by a thread. Wheel was ruined. The lug nuts had not been tightened. Big O did replace the wheel, but it could have been disastrous if the wheel had come off. The truck was loaded with people and gear on a narrow hilly two lane highway.

    Howdy Folks;
    I have an '07 Taco TRD with the OE BFG Rugged Trails on it (P265/70 16) and stock whhels.
    Any comments on whether upsizing to an LT265/75 16 tire would cause any clearance, rubbing or steering problems?
    Also, does anyone know about the 'snowflake' severe weather emblem on AT or snow tires? I see the BFG AT's and the Pro Comp AT's, as well as some others, have this rating. I understand this goes to a rating done by the RTA and relates to traction in snow conditions.
    Should this be a factor in sleecting a new tire for my rig?
    I live and work in snow country, but also put highwasy mles on the rig.
    The BFG RT's are worn and will need to be relaced before the snow...
    Thanks,

    Howdy again;
    I notice that Discount/America's Tire has their own house brand of Pathfinder tires. One that look interesting is Pathinder AT tire. REminds me of BFG AT or Dick Cepek design AT tire.
    Any comments on the merits of this tire?
    Thanks,

    The 315's are a 12.4" width, so there is basically no difference. I think most manufacturers say a 35x12.50 can go on a wheel from 8-11", but you can double check in the specs for whichever tire you're interested in.

    I want to upsize to an LT 265/75 16 AT tire on my 2007 Taco TRD with stock suspension. It has the stock size P265/70 16's on it. Will they fit under it without rubbing, espically in the front? Will I have to trim the stock fender flares?
    Thanks,

    No no trimming with those, only if you bump up to 285s, that when you see problems

    I just increased to 265/75/16 Duratracs with 16x8 moto metals (0mm offset), and had minor rubbing on the mudflaps, while making tight turns when parking. Trimming the mud flaps was quite easy though.

    I just upgraded to lt 265/75/16 duratracs on stock suspension and they rubbed pretty good when turning. The trimming was minor though and easy. I had to remove my front mud flaps and trim some of the front and rear thin plastic in the wheel well.
