Procomp return policy

So I live in CO where they are not affraid to use mag chloride on the roads in the winter. Man is that stuff nasty. Well I have Procomp xtreme alloys 6001. After a year and a half and 2 winters they are starting to show signs of rust and terrible bumps in the chrome finish. So I take them back to the shop where I bought them. After about 30 seconds of looking at them, the owner heads over to his computer and tells me that I will have 4 new wheels in about a week. I've heard horror stories about procomp returns. If the owner of the shop is as good as his word I'm gonna be a happy man.

I'll only do it this once. The only reason I am doing it this time is because the shop told me this would not happen. I figure this one is on them. The next one is on me.

That stuff will come out easily with a steel wool pad, and it won't scratch the finish... I've done it on the chrome bumper on my Taco. Once you get them cleaned, put a coat of clear on them, and that should prevent it from happening in the future.

I tried to get it off with steel wool. The rust or whatever the cancer spots are are coming up from under the clearcoat and under the chrome finish. It was not going to come out easily. I used steel wool for my bumper too. I guess if it is polished chrome it is easy to get out. On these with the dipped chrome finish it is tough to get out. I'm all for not using mag chloride. I say we get rid of the California drivers. JK

Damn, that's no good then. I've still got my TRD Offroad stock wheels, and they're holding up well... They still look new after one winter, which is a relief after mag chloride pitted the hell out of the raw aluminum wheels on my old 4Runner. I'll probably go with something painted black whenever I get around to lifting my truck and putting aftermarket wheels on, as opposed to chrome. Good luck with the return!

Thanks, for the advice. Yeah if I could do it over I would go with the black, only because of mag chloride. I used to have painted chrome wheels. Those held up really well too. That stuff is just nasty.
