new wheels and tires what do u guys do?

i just went from 265 65 17 to 285 70 17 do u guys buy an extra tire for a spare? cause u cant use a 265 65 17 at all right if u get a flat? and will a 285 70 17 fir under my truck in the holder?

You can't use it in the rear if you have an LSD rear end. When I moved up to 265/75-16 I left the spare alone for a good 6 months. However, the correct size is on it's way to me right now.

 

yeah, you could use a smaller spare to limp you a few miles....... as long as you dont use it on the rear end if you have a Limited Slip diff. If you dont have a limited slip, then it should be ok I think.

to my knowledge, all the TRD sports come with a LSD in the rear end. In which case, you'd want to get a matching sized spare for the truck. you can double check whether there is a LSD by looking under the rear of the truck at the diff- there should be a sticker that reads 'LSD fluid only', or something similar.

Eh, used tires. Check it carefully to make sure it isn't cracked from age.

 

you can also look at the DOM of the used tires, its something that gets molded into every tire. It can be found near the bead on one side of the tire, it will be some numbers like '2705' meaning the tire was manufactured in the 27th week of '05.

One wheel rotates slower than the other causing the LSD to lock.
