Need advice on wheel & tire sizing for '09 4x4

Hello, I have a '09 double cab 4x4 with the TRD Sport package.

I am looking to replace the stock wheels with some aftermarket wheels with off-road tires.

Can someone please advise me as to what the maximum size is that I can get away with without using a lift kit? I really don't know what rims size I should go with either. I'm not sure where to start...

Thanks.

Well seeing as you have the sport model your wheel size is 17 so maybe stick with that size. As for as biggest tire without a lift 265 same as stock.

265/75/16 or 265/70/17 for tire size...and dont worry about sticking to 17's. i like the look of more sidewall, ie my DD 16's.

I have a '09 Reg cab with 16" wheels. So I should be able to go to 265-70-16 tires without any issues, right? Also, on your '09, have you looked into the Bilstein 5100 shocks? I can't seem to get a cross reference when looking them up on BS web site or on-line retailers sites.

Well I think I am going to go the lift kit route. The kits aren't too expensive. It looks like I can go with a 285/75R16 or a 285/70R17 tire with a 12mm offset rim if I use a 3" lift kit.

My whole issue is that this truck is given to me as a company vehicle to drive so when it comes time to turn it in I didn't want to have alot of money into upgrades put into it. I figured I can just pull the wheels off it and put the stock ones back on.

Lightbulb If you had your mind set on max size:

I would go up to 18" max. Could go bigger but would be less rubber for offroad purposes. You can rap that with 275/65/18's and that would be 32" tire diameter with minimal rubbing.

With the after market bumper for more front wheel well clearance could you slide 275/70R18's under or are we talking major rub? Other option is 305/60R18, but I really don't want the tires that wide as I have enough problems with sidewalls the way it is.

Damn friend of mine who talked me into 18's thinking the TOYO MT's would fit and then it was too late. Nobody makes a good 275/65R18 tire or 265/70R18 MT.
