Matte Black TRD fj wheel centercap

Can anybody give me the part number on the back of the center cap for the black FJ TRD wheels?

Help would be appreciated.

I actually just dropped mine off for acid dipping/stripping then on to be powder coated matte black.

I was told by the guys at the shop I just just use a rattle can of matte black from any chain auto parts store to spray my silver center caps.

 

Got the wheels in on Tuesday, been on the back seat since then. I'm trying to decide to paint or powder. I figure if paint and it doesn't come out good, I can always have them powdered later. How much is the acid dipping gonna cost? I'm trying to find the most cost effective way to prep them. I was quoted $340 by a local powder coater to prep and powder to matte black. I'm on the fence and need a push one way or the other.

Dipping is $250 and powder is $150. I too was trying to find the most cost effective way to get all of this done. I was told by a couple of media blasters that to strip the wheels would take a very aggressive media and would most likely mar the wheels. Using a less aggressive media would take alot longer and they charge by the hour.

It's getting to look like buying the reproduction set from Earnhardt Toyota is not a bad deal at $1000/4 wheels. Figure I am at $500 for the wheels, $75 for shipping, $400 for stripping and powder. Then using a rattle can to prep and spray the center caps myself and all the running around.

Chalk it up to experience perhaps others on the board can use. At the very least I know that my wheels are being properly stripped and prepped as an assurance of longevity of the finish, which I cannot say the same if I bought the Earnhardt wheels.

 

Definitely powdercoat over paint any day if you want it to last.

I had a bunch of my motorcycle parts done by a local powdercoater and they came out great. I was contemplating getting my stock wheels on my Accord powdercoated and they quoted me $50 a wheel prepped and powdercoated.

As far as prep is concerned acid dip seems extreme to me but it would be the most thorough to get the best surface preparation. The powdercoater I use just media blasts and I had no issues with surface condition on any of my motorcycle parts.

Mine are a the powdercoater now. They had a big order of stuff to coat in the color I needed just before I dropped the wheels off, so I have to wait for more powder to come in. They should be done next week.
