Paddle Tires for Tacoma???

Hey Everyone!

I've always wondered about paddle tires for trucks. i know they exist because i've seen them on trophy trucks out at Glamis and also on the sand rails but always wondered about their application on a tacoma per say. Has anybody tried anything like this on a tacoma?

Does anything exist like a snow chain but with nobbies for the sand? i think big paddles wouldnt be good because of so much traction that it might break things if you gun it but how about some sort of "paddle chain" for regular tires? Like the snow chains you wrap around tires, but with knobbies for the sand. Maybe i'm crazy or maybe someone should make something like this. And i'm obviously asking because i DONt have the 4x4.

Todwang over on TN has paddle tires on his truck and those are the pics I posted above...
This is what it says in his signature
"15X10 PROCOMP WITH 31" PADDLES"

Don't know how he got 15" rims to fit, but they make paddles in 16, 17, 18 rims also. I'd think you'd have to go with a wide rim like the 10" he has.

He's probably just running the 15" wheels on the rear.

what are the mods on your tacoma im 100% stock in the rear

 

One of the paddle companies you can send a pair of worn out tires to (carcass still in good shape), and they will shave them down, and then add paddles according to the power your vehicle has. Which is good since too many paddles and not enough power actually makes things worse.

 

it depends on the amount of paddles and the size of the paddles, i have seen tacomas out at glamis with them on but i havent actually seen them in action.. i would love to get a set to try out
