Removed Tire Pressure Sensors

What can I expect to happen if I install rims with NO senors? Can I disable this? Is there some kind of after market product that can be carried in the vehicle at all times that will simulate good tire pressure for the monitor? Thanks

 

I was searching to find the mod where someone used some PVC pipe and put the sensors inside, sealed it, and pressurized till the light went out. Can't find it though.

I just don't worry about the light when I have my winter rims on....doesn't bother me, some people just put a piece of black tape over it.

 

why dont you just have them put into your new rims? They did that for me with no issues.

There is a fella here who did the wheelbarrow mod & mounted his sensors in the tire & mounted it near the spare on the frame. His pics are here somewhere, search wheelbarrow

 

i don't get it are they different? sorry for the ignorance but i dont know much about the wheel sensors. Check FJ Cruiser Forums also there were a bunch of posts about this as I used to have an FJ.

They have a different pitch/angle for the two different kind of wheels I believe.

I've heard of people 'thowing' the senors in their spare tire. The thing is trying to put them in something that is presurised won't work because eventually the signal will go dead because it's the rotating G forces of the wheels that charges the sensors.

 

How do you know this? And are you saying there are built in batteries in the sensors?

 

Couldn't you just ignore the light, clip a wire, or pull a fuse? It doesn't beep or anything does it?

 

Thats what i did. I just put a piece of electrical tape over the light.

 

They work on the same basic principle as those emergency flashlights you shake to make the light work, then they die shortly after you stop shaking the flash light. The rotating of the tires gives the sensors just enough charge to send the signal.

 

Just crack open your gauges and remove the LED for that light.

 

What happens if you unplug the tpms module behind the stereo? Would the light go out?
