Hey guys i have a 07 dbl cab prerunner. i have a 3in. procomp suspension with 265-65-17 right now with the stock trd rims. i want to keep my rims and go with a bigger tire size. I want to go with 33x12.5x17 ( basically 285-70-17). I've heard many things about ways to fit em. I wanna go with spacers, but i'm not sure if 1.25" will work or if i will need 1.5". Has anyone done this before? Hows everything riding? I've heard that with spacers your wheel can basically fall off and you're sol. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

Just picked up a 2014 TRD Sport with the 265/65/17 tires. I do plan on towing approx 5,000lbs about 6 times a year. Truck is rated to 6400lbs so no issues there, but I would like to upgrade the tires to an A/T LT265/70/17. Anyone has issues with towing power loss with the 1" difference?? If I need another thread please redirect me.

When you all are rubbing with anything larger than a 265/75R16 on a stock suspension, where exactly are you rubbing?

It is nearly always a problem only with the inner part of a front mudflap when the wheels are turned sharply. I had no difficulty with rubbing BFG AT 265 70R17's with the stock suspension. My only difficulty came after installing the Icon Stage III front suspension (see short thread here).

The problems I had were a. installer error (resolved); b. alignment shop unwillingness to do what folks here recommended (resolved); c. unknown cause (unresolved but very minor and infrequent).

I just ask because I just bought my Tacoma and it is in need of some new winter tires. I don't have a problem with the 265/75s, but I intend on lifting and swapping rims/tires out down the road and hate to waste money on a set of tires I will only use for a little while. My Tacoma came with an ARB bumper installed on it already and I figured if the bumper was the rubbing issue then I could upsize a little and use the tires longer.

Hi all, been watching for a long time..now finally posting.

tires are almost worn out, stock 265/70/16

was toying with a number of ideas, all of which involved keeping the stock wheels

265/75/16 , 275/70/16 , 285/70/16 orrrrrrr 255/85/16

Have bilstein coil overs and a AAL in the rear. probably about 2 inch lift right now, could go another inch up front.

Think i'm settling in on the new BFG KO2 in a 265/75/16. total diameter is essentially the exact same as a 285/70...and would like to keep the narrower tire for snow, http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tir...5r16-285-70r16 .

now wondering what, if any, wheels spacers you'd all recommend...would like to see the tire sticking a bit further out. any recommendation on wheels spacer sizes...with going extreme? and what would wheel spacers look like on a 255/85/16?

any pics.

thanks y'all, so much great stuff in this community!

You can fit 17's but they will probably rub some what. you may have to do so trimming in the inside of the fenders.

The 09 sport I'm getting tomorrow has stock 17's on it. I have a new set of stock 16's that I may put on it. Should I be able to put 265/75/16's on it without rubbing?. I have a new set of factory alloy wheels from a TRD off road.
