I have 245-75-16 tires on my 2005 Tacoma V-6 access cab. I need replacements.
I want to install Goodyear Wrangler ST 225-75-16 tires (free swaps off new jeep my son purchased)
    Will I be sorry?

225s? Those are going to be one inch shorter and one inch slimmer than your 245 stockers. IMO the 245's already look too small, but its your truck.

went to the rim shop, had 20's put on with tires that kept wheel sizes similar
gas milage down a little - rims added weight .. no lift needed though
(but worth it to have a deeep dish look-- i'm guessing the rims are 9")

i have a 09 dc 4x4 i put 265/70/17 bfg at's on and i had to take the front flaps off and trim a little plastic nothing anyone would notice. I get a little rub when i brake hard and crank the wheels all the way left or right other than that its pretty sweet.

I saw this thread and didn't see anything to my experience. I had 285's on the truck when i boght it with a 3" lift fit just fine took off mud flaps. Next were the 33's (305) and had to move the body mount from the frame out of the way but they fit the wheel well nicely and stuff perfectly. I just put 35'S (315) on and the look perfect. they haven't rubbed yet but I haven't stuff them yet either. i am anticipating some sheet metal issues there. but for everyday use they are great. I will keep you posted. I think that this is the most tire you can get in there with minimal work.

^ I have a hard time believing the 285's would not rub. 99% of people on here rub with 285's even with a lift. I'm running 265/65/18's, which are the same width and diameter as the ever-popular 265/75/16, with no rubbing at all.

265/70/17's on the stock alloy wheels!

FYI; I purchased Goodyear Duratracs and they rub on the lower control arms at full lock!

Took off antenea for wind noise
I wish there was a chart for this tire size issue, I have Eibach 1.6 coils and 5100's set at 0 I can see there is a point when you are going to hit the UCA with the tire. With my set up and not going to the .85 setting what fits? I have 265/65/17 stock rims. Looks close for 265/75/17, Anyone with The Eibachs @ 0" runnig bigger than 265/70/17 ? It looks like Total Chaos UCA's Might help.

You are going to find that in order to fit anything over 265/70/17, you will need 3" of lift, properly backspaced wheels (or wheel spacers), and you will have trim the fender well.

so if i have billy 5100 at 0.85" i need to go with 265/70/17 on my 08 DC sport? how much bigger is that than stock? all these tire numbers mess me up, i assume about 1 inch taller and 1/2 wider?

But yet another question..... OK, I k now this is asked hundreds of times on here but- I have a 2008 Double Cab 4X4 Sport I have 5100's with the highest setting possible and AAL's on it- So I think that is 2.5 in the front and unsure of how high that lifted it in the back.. Right now I have Pro Comp rims with 265/70R17 Grabber AT2's on it. Here is my problem, I don't like the way it looks. I don't like the rims or the tires. I was looking for more of a Micky Thompson Baja ATZ or a Trail Grappler M/T look. I hear that the Micky Thompson wear great and don't make a lot of noise. I was thinking of putting my stock rims back on with maybe the Micky Thompson's on them, but was wondering if the 285/70R17 will fit without hitting the UCA's? My other Option was to go to Rockstar XH's With maybe a 275/70R18, but I think that looks a little big for me. Any Help would be great!! BTW, I don't go off road (unless you count the parking lot at the motocross track)

    Welcome to TW!

You would need wheel spacers if you are trying to 285's on the stock rims.

also please don't get rockstars :anonymous:
