I would go with bfg's over tg's anytime. The treadwear is awesome and road noise is unnoticeable. We dont get any snow at all down where im from, but as far as rain, mud, and sand the bfg's have always worked excellent in my experience. I'm not sure if this will help any, but when I was purchasing my tires the sales rep at discount tire told me that for some reason the bfg's stood taller and wider than the tg's. I had him mount both tires on the rims that i was also purchasing so that i can do a side by side comparison. He wasn't lying, the bfg's did sit taller and wider???

Yeah, they cost a few bucks more but in my opinion u get what you pay for. I'm not at all a pennie pincher, if i was i would of bought a dakota, ranger, colorado, canyon, etc...... instead of my tacoma.

I went with the TG's simply because I drive so much and just can't justify paying 100's more for a tire - I got them for 1/3 less that the BFG's - I got 50 K on the crappy dunlops
I'll spend my money on synthetic oil and other crap
I have had BFG's before and they are great tires but they just were not in the budget this time around

I went TGs for 525 installed... Road noise is not bad at all.. just a few more clicks of the volume for the radio is all. Compared to the stock AT20s.. these have tons more grip in dry and wet conditions (no snow testing as of yet). They ride a bit rougher than stock, but that is to be expected. As long as I get close to 40k out of these tires they are the better value imo.

White letters on AT or MTs look gayer than the shape of the TG side lug bolts every day, every week, all year. Wouldn't have that shit on mine but at least you could just have them flipped around to blackwall. Well, the TGs were already on it when I bought truck & the TGs are less gay than the factory dunflops & even if the side lug shape bothered me that much, they'd be on there until the tires wore down. Nowhere near gay enough to throw away 1/4 worn tires. But that bike shot is way gay! lol

You used the word gay 4 times in 3 sentences.

There something you're not telling us?

After re-reading this thread, Chris partially recommends the Nittos based on their performance in snow. Chris in the snow must be entertaining.

I'm currently debating on the terra, trail, and the BFG. I've never used anything other than BFG's. Normally i wouldn't even be debating this, but i could use the $200 savings.

You have NO idea. teh way I tested them, being as I have NO fucking idea how to drive in snow, is I drove up north to hippyville (where TacoNut lives), and drove around, THEN, swapped tires, and did the same trip the next day. The snow test was basically, a huge parking lot covered in snow, and empty. I got to 30 mph, and hit the brakes. ABS disabled. I then started in 4hi, first gear, and did a 3K rpm clutch drops. The nittos required much more brake application to initiate a slide when stopping, and when taking off, bogged the motor down. The BFG's would spin, and slide easy. The snow was about 7" deep, and within 4 days old. No one else had driven on it at the time of my testing. I also took my Dodge (with BFG's), down a fire road that was mud and ice from a snow storm. WIth the BFG's, the back end would drift out at 35 mph, where as the Nittos wouldnt until around 45 or so. I tested the same size, and used chalk to determine best PSI for each set.

I haven't had either one, so maybe I should stay quiet, but the Terra's are very close (copied??) to my Toyo Open Country's which I LOVE. They are a great tire in the snow, so I'd guess the Nitto's would be the same since they've got nearly exactly the same type tread pattern.

pretty much stock, very minor upgrades plus tires
I got the Nittos TG 265-70-16 and they have worked great for me. Really quiet on the highway. I live in Florida and only have to put up with rain. I will buy another set when its time to replace them. Great price also.
