What is the minimum lift I will need?

I plan on getting some 285/70R16E Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires and I was wondering what I would have to do to make these work.

The specs of the Nitto's are 31.89"(diameter) 11.5"(section width), compared to the 30.6"(diameter)and 10.7"(width) of the BFG Rugged Terrains' that come with the TRD Off-Road.

How much of a lift would I need? I would prefer to lift the truck as little as possible. I have a TRD Off-Road that has had the TSB done in the rear. I plan on getting a set of 5100's to add whatever lift I will need. Any other suggestions? I apologize in advance for my ignorance...

2.5" should be fine, but you may have a little rubbing.

Damn, I don't know if I want to go that high. I want a small lift and slightly bigger/more aggressive tires than stock, but I drive a lot and don't want to take a big hit on the mileage.
I bought my Taco used and it came with 20" Enkei WT4's with 250/55R20 tires, good looking for a "street" truck buy not what I want.
Any suggestions?

Get some 265/75/16's. You can clear them with a stock height, and they are 1 size larger than stock.

Not really....A 32" tall tire is about the max you can get before getting into rubbing issues.

To be perfectly honest I think you could get a 285/75-16 on stock or very near stock 1.5" lift or less. You'll need about a 1/4" spacer to clear the UCA but it should fit with some minimal trimming for street purposes.

I think those would probably fit with the 5100's at 1.75" and possibly either wheel spacers or aftermarket wheels if there is UCA contact issues with them.
