tire pressure light is on after new tires??

i lifted my truck and got new bigger tires put on. Is it normal for the tpms light to be on all the time now??

 

Are your sensors still in the tire?

 

sorry im not sure where to look. They are the same stock rims. Where are they located? behind the tire? or on the rim somewhere?

 

They are on the rim- If your valve stem is metal then they are still there. If they are not- I'd be REALLY pissed.

Do you know what they pumped the new tires up to and have you tried the reset button yet??

 

i just checked the rims, and they still have the metal stems coming out of rims. Im not sure what tire pressure they pumped it up to. And where is the reset button?

 

By the gas pedal area. Also check the tire pressure in the spare.

If the light blinks for a minute then goes solid then they broke one of your sensors. If it just stays on solid from startup, air pressure is off. DON'T RESET the air pressure!!! Adjust it you your desired psi and if it's still on, reset it.

 

ok pretty sure it doesnt blink. It just stays on from startup

 

If it doesn't blink, figure out what proper pressure for your tires is and set it at that. If it still stays on, reset the sensors
via the reset button under the steering column

 

Worst case scenario the guy who changed over your tires damaged the sensors in the process! Happened to a friend of mine and the garage had to buy him a new one.

 

They broke mine too when I got my mojaves and km2s put on. They broke 3/5 sensors. They replaced them all too but it was a pita. If it doesn't blink tho, all sensors are functioning properly and it's just a matter of adjusting pressure

 

this same thing happened to mine, your spare pressure has to be within like 7psi of all your other tires (ex. i run cooper discoverer stt @ 40psi, my spare was @32, so it threw the tpm) just run your spare up to about what you have in all 4 tires and you should be fine

 

My TPMS light is on, and it blinks for a lil bit and then it goes solid. So im guessing there broke? I still have the stock rims and tires, but one of my tires have a leak and got really low once. So if I hit a big bump with it like that im sure it could have damaged one?

 

Yeah...If it's blinking you have a broken sensor-A bump could have done it.

 

doubt if its broken because mine blinked and as soon as i got all tires to about the same psi it went away, check tire pressure in your tires. if there stock you should run them all (including spare) @ 32psi once you have that reset the light and see what happens, if it still blinks broken sensor, if it goes off your good to go.

 

Blinking = Broken/non comunicative sensor- That's the way the system works. If you reset the system and it really was blinking you may have gotten the sensor to read again...or maybe you just thought it was blinking??

 

blinking=broken, and your right there but blinking and going solid means pressure in one or more of the tires is not right, and if that is corrected the light will go off, and checking this and resetting the light is completly free so it wouldn't hurt Josh to check everyting before replacing something that may not be broken.
