tires too big?

]I just bought 33x12.50R20 mud grappler tires for my 2009 tacoma with a 3 inch lift. I was told by the manufacture that they'll fit. I'm skeptical. I got them today and they look huge... Does anybody have any insite on this? Thanks.

I can't help with an answer, but I'm sure it will depend somewhat on your rim width and backspacing. Post those specs up and someone should be able to help you.

they will fit, but may require various amounts of trimming depending on the wheel offset/BS

the tires are so wide though...12.5 inches and the rim is 9 inches in depth.

out of curiosity...whyd you buy the tires before checking to see if they'll fit?

Because thats what all the cool kids do!

Buy now ask later! Back on topic, only one way to tell is to put them on and find out then snap some photos for us all to see!

I did check...they said they would fit. After I got them, they seemed so wide that I'm afraid they'll rub when I make turns. Some one mentioned about triming, trim what?

the fender wells might hit in some areas but some pliers and tin snips will take care of that for ya.

Depends.... On the front bumper you may have to trim a bit off the bottom of the inner fender liner, the front mud flaps will probably need to be removed and maybe the bottom of the fender flare a tad, and if its worse than that you may have to do the front body mount chop mod....

Yup, this is the best way to fit larger tires, I'm running 35's on a 3" lift with this mod.

Even if they do fit, you may have legal or inspection issues, because those tires are going to stick out past the stock fender flares. It depends on law enforcement in the area. Some areas enforce this more than others.

We have annual state safety inspections. Emissions is county by county. I don't need an emissions sticker in Butler County, but the OP (if he is in Allegheny Co) does, but that's way besides the point.

You should be alright if you buy wheel spacers, but 12.5 is too wide for a 3" setup.

285/75 is the biggest tire with no trimming on aftermarket wheels with >4.5 backspacing

285's still require trimming on a 3" lift. mine still hit the body mount in reverse or a tight turn w/ a bump.

Here you go boys. They fit, with some serious trimming...well worth it.
