I attempted to purchase 17" moto metal wheels 957 & 265/70 Bfg AT today from 4 wheel parts but the salesman told me he couldn't install the wheels & tires unless I did the level kit since it will rub because of the offset of rim, he said it was a safety issue ( and sounded like liability issue to me for them ). I don't have the extra cash for the level kit so I went ahead and just bought the BFG's 265/70 R17 only. Does anybody have this setup without the level kit? How bad does it rub? info would be appreciated. thanks.

I thought you didn't need any lift to run that combination but I could be wrong. I ran my moto metal wheels with a 265/70/16 tire with all kinds of room.

I think 4 Wheel Parts is way overpriced. Check around on the internet and you can probably get a better price on the wheels. Plus if you buy them off places like eBay ect. you won't have to pay the Texas sales tax.

I have been surfing alot comparing prices and 4wheelparts.com is cheapest right now for moto metal. $486 for the wheels, its the BFG's that are a lil expensive, the level kit is stupid expensive. i thought about doing that as well, getting em installed elsewhere but just wanted some input.

I'm running Moto Metal 957b with Nitto TG's 265/70/17, bought and installed at 4 Wheel Parts...I had them price match internet prices, so I got a better deal than any other place in town would offer.

They didn't have a problem selling and installing them on my truck which has stock suspension. I had minor rubbing, they offered to do some trimming, but I did it on my own.

I drove without trimming for almost a year, there was no safety issue. The only rubbing I had is on full turns or turning while going over a bump, u turns or into the driveway or tight parking lots, they were fine with normal driving conditions and I even went offroading before trimming.

That's what he said it would do, rub on tight turns so he wouldn't let them install em and drive off like that. Thanks for everyone's input. I'll just get the tires put on now and save up for the level kit & rims for later. I knew eventually I would want to level it out. Just gotta shop around to see who can offer better price around town compared to them. good looking truck foxychick :) thanks again

Thanks, good luck. It's very minor rubbing and some people have them without any rubbing at all, so it does vary especially with different brands of tires since they are all slighty different in size.
Buy the rims and have them installed at another tire shop. Do a little trimming if needed and you will be fine till you decide how you want to lift it or level it. I found the rims cheap online and had the shop price match and ship them to their shop for free then just paid installation. Hope it works out for you.

Those specs are perfect for running the tires you want.

Tell 4wp to F-themselves. They have shown time and again that they don't know what they are talking about.

    Take the truck somewhere else.
