Snow Tire 285/70/17

I am looking to get snow tires for my 2010 Double Cab Sport. I want to use my stock 17 inch wheels. I am getting the Toytec Ultimate Lift and want a larger snow tire. I found 2 tires that may fit the bill.

General Altimax - 8ply
Bridgestone Blizzak - 4ply

Do you think the 4 ply is going to be a problem? The load range per tire is 2800 for Bridgestone and 3100 for the General. I will be towing 2k lbs a lot and have a Snug top topper.

As for 4 ply (P)vs 8 or 10 ply (C, D, or E), seeing our midsize trucks weight and max load is only around 5300 lbs, (P) passenger is fine. Been runnning 245/75 16 Blizzaks for 6 winters now often with a full load and pulling snowmobile trailer, no problems. Max load is only 2250 on each tire.

 

As a general rule you want smaller tires for snow than regular, so whatever size you currently have, your snow's should be smaller. A skinnier footprint cuts through the snow better.

really,i didnt read that about...........toytec.yes , i no hes getting a lift.i just agreed with the other guy about skinny tires working better in the snow.

 

thank i think i will get another set of wheels with a 4.5 offset and go with the 285/70/17 Blizzaks. Now i just need to find them. A lot of distributors are out
