What do you think of the Nitto Terra Grappler?

i have a 07 DC sport 4x4 and have stock tires with 50.000 miles im going with 265-70-17 tires. thanks for all the help i have searched but im still new to TW my first post

 

I had them on my 05 F150. They were pretty good tires, but my set wore down very fast. Would I buy them again? Probably not, I'd look into something else as I didn't get very much use for the price I paid. Right now I have Duratracs and would recommend these tires in a heartbeat.

 

I'm a big fan of the BFG AT's. Nitto suck in my opinion.

 

How well do they wear? I've seen lots of reports of fast wear but they are from different truck (not Tacomas). Since you've had 6 sets I figured you'd know better than most...

 

Nittos are great and BFGs are overated IMO. Ive had two sets of Nittos and really like them a lot

i haven't had any problems with bfg's in the sand or mud. previously rand them on my grand cherokee v8 awd, Z71 and now my tacoma.

 

i just put a set of 265/70/17 terra grapplers on my 07 dc. only have about 1000 miles on them, but i love them so far. they handle very well on the road, even compared to the stock tires. just had over two feet of snow in VA, and i was one of the only ones out on the unplowed roads, and i had no problem. as for the reviews saying they wear fast, if you look at the trucks they were used on, the bad treadlife reviews fome from the big dodges and the f250s. the taco, frontier, and dacota etc. owners love them. also, they tire guy i talked to said that he likes them more than the BFGs becasue they have a flatter profile. they still have a deep treat like the BFGs, but since they ride flat on the road, the center does not wear out faster than the sides.


Edit: don't get me wrong, the BFGs are a great tire too, and i would have gotten those if i hadn't gotten the terra grapplers.

Huh, ok thanks! I'll add them to my list of tires to consider when these crap AT20s wear out. Maybe I should figure out ways to "encourage" them to wear out...

 

They're pretty good, IMO. Had them on for over 20k miles and very low wear. Very aggressive look, good grip, and quiet. They've handled very well in the snow. I would recommend them.

 

I love mine, not loud on highway, handle great, no complaints.

 

I love em! hated my BFGs. Recently got some snow here in atlanta and i was not impressed with the lack of traction of the TG but since it never snows here i'm not making a big of that. Overall great ride

 

Nitto's are fantastic, would recommend them to anyone. BFG is better in deep sand and mud, nitto is better on dry/wet street and does well offroad.

Another alternative is the hankook atm rf10, expensive tire but performs just as well.

 

I just got them on but I love them so far. great in rain and on road. Havent tried them off road or snow yet.

 

I put the Nitto dune grapplers on and they seem to be very quiet, they have a cool at design. I only have about 3000 on them so I do not know about how they will wear yet. So far they still look new.. But I do like the looks too..

 

I just changed out of a set of them. They did ok on the hwy and off roading (dry). I wasnt real happy with their performance in the snow, rain, or mud. Now, I really like my Firestone Destination A/T's. Great tire so far.
