Opinions needed -- I purchased my 05 Certified Tacoma on 12/28. The tires, as far as the tread, appeared brand new. Well, I finally was able to wash/wax this weekend & noticed spiderweb cracks on all the sidewalls & then discovered these tires were manufactured in 2001.

First question is are these cracks normal or is it something that I need to look into further?

Second question is if I should look into this further, do you think that I should start at the dealership since on a "Certified Toyota", they claim to check the tires for damage?

    Thx!!

If nothing else, have them looked at by a Michelin dealer. Michelin will actually honor the warranty on their tires even if you're not the original purchaser. I once bought a used VW that had Michelins on it that were cupping. I went to the local Michelin dealer and they gave me a number to call at the Michelin factory in SC. I called them and they said those tires were the wrong tread rating for that particular car. They gave me a case # and sent me back to the dealer for a 60% adjustment. I got a brand new set of Michelins for 60% off retail. Can't beat that kind of customer service.
