What's so good about mud tires?

I see a lot of Tacos. with mud tires. I also like the mean and aggressive look of it. I have all terrain tires but was just wondering how mud tires do on city and freeway driving. Also, how do they do in wet conditions?

they are the best on the mud and they suck on highway and wet paved roads i would stict to AT

 

If you get M/T's get the KM2, They are the best all around "mud" tire. That is streetable.

If you don't plan on doing any serious off roading then stick with A/T, otherwise you are just throwing money away for noisy street tires.

 

They add 4" to your total penis size.

 

Let's not forget how much cooler they look than ATs

Not really, my cooper STTs do great on wet paved roads. Never had a traction issue.

 

Hmm, mine do fine on the highway if you can deal with a little road noise, wet conditions is not that bad my AT's spun just as bad.

To the OP I dont know if I would ever go back to an AT just for the fact off roading I dont think there is a comparison between the two MT for me all the way..

 

I was just about to start my own thread.

Last night I almost got stuck in the dirt at the school parking lot after their spaghetti dinner.

I just switched to Nitto Terra Grapplers from BFG KM2s. And last night I completely regretted that choice. I wish I had stayed with the KM2s.

I liked the KM2s but decided since most of my time was commuting I wanted better mileage, less noise and save a few bucks. I sold my KM2s and went to ATs.

It has been raining here and I decided to park in the dirt because the lot was full. I almost embarrassed myself to no end. The ATs got into the dirt and the truck just stopped dead and the tires spun. I flipped on 4WD and then front and rear spun. I was nervous I was going to get stuck at the school.

I made a mistake taking off my KM2s. My mileage did not improve and the noise level barely changed. Now, I get stuck in school parking lots after a rain. WTF?

Let me say, I WANT MY KM2s BACK!!!!

This is a good point, when i get my tires even if i do get worse gas mileage and street noise, i do not want to get stuck and i want to be able to shread anything i get to

No, on a serious note, there is a fjc around the corner with em and I drive past every day and they look so bad ass. And there cheaper than the bfg at's

I must be the only Taco. owner with BIG O TIRES Big Foot A/T...

How come nobody talks about BIG O TIRES? Do they suck??

 

I'm rockin Hankook AT-Ms and I love em. 10ply and a hell of a lot cheaper than BFG

 

The only place I lived that had Big O dealers was NorCal.

I loved their tires on my Blazer.

 

Thanks and point taken. That was one of my first lessons my dad taught me 30 years ago when I started driving his Jeep in the riverbottoms of SoCal. He would let me get stuck just to learn how to get unstuck. And clearly remember him making that point to me.

With that being said I want to clarify my point, that Nitto Terra Grapplers suck in mud that is only 4" deep. I was feathering the pedal and they could not get traction.

Now, when I had the KM2s on I never lost traction like that.

My point to anyone that buys a truck that they may even occassionally off-road - Get tires that give great traction when you need it.

If you want to add 4" to your penis - it is lift and tire diameter not thread pattern that matters.

 

Really ? yeah but you know how much tread you are wasting by driving them on highway and paved roads? When i say they suck i also mean they suck because they get worn out too easy ...

That was the calculation that convinced me to sell my MTs.

The MTs cost twice the price ATs. (well almost)

The ATs last twice as long. (in some cases)

Therefore, MTs can actually cost 4x the amount of ATs over the life of a set of tires.
