I'm curious did you have to do CMC or trim any fenders? Any rub?

I appreciate the input... Already pulled the trigger and am very happy so far. I went from mud tires to these so the family is very happy!

Yes, mine did the exact same for the last two tanks at 32psi. I aired up to 40 psi this week and and hoping for an improvement.

What size/type of tires were you using before?

Mine did quite the opposite. I went from LT rated Dean MT SXT (local Les Schwab tires) to 265/70 Duratacs "C" rated. Before I got 16-17MPG, with the Duratracs, I consistently get 18-19MPG 95% city driving...

That is my point. I have a feeling the people that drop are upgrading the size and type of tire they use which will no doubt have an affect on mpg's mostly due to added weight.

I have a feeling that I am going to see similar results to what you have seen.

I went from stock dunlop at20s in 265/65/17 to the duratracs in 265/70/17.

Im not making any claims regarding MPGs, instead simply reporting my results.

According to Fuelly I was running 17-19mpg before and 13-15 after. I will report after a few weeks at 40 psi to see what effect tire pressure has on this.

Tire pressure will make a difference with the heavier tires. At least it does with my LT245/75/16 Silent Armor Pro Grades on my 4x4 4 banger AC. I run them at 50psi on the advice of my tire guy. Rides a bit like a buck board over the rough spots...I air down for the occasional off road bits in the Summer. Still average in the 20mpg range, which was only down 1 to 1.5 mpg from what I was getting on the highway tires. FWIW

BTW...I run separate Winter tires, P rated Blizzaks.

I went from 31x10.5x15 BFG AT's on stock dual spoke 15x7 wheels to 33x12.5x15 Load C Duratracs on Mickey Thompson Classic II 15x8.

After a couple of tanks on the new tires, (gallons at fillup)/(miles traveled on odometer) = 18.3mpg

18.3 x (33"/31") puts me 19.5mpg which is right about where I was before. Although the actual diameter of the tires is likely not exact, the point is that there has not been much change in fuel mileage for me. I drive on the highway a lot, but do some stop and go driving, and seem to get stuck in traffic quite a bit.

There is one factor I have make not of - I adjusted my valves at about the same time I got the tires put on. They were really tight and it is possible that my motor's efficiency increased slightly, but it is not really possible to tell since both of these changes occurred at the same time.

Overall, I really like the look of the tires, but the extra weight is noticeable when accelerating and braking. Acceleration is slow and the powerband shift is annoying. I would like to regear in the future.

Anybody have any idea what the weight difference is between the C and E load ratings? I know E is heavier...

Right now, I'm going back and forth between the 265/75r16C and the 235/85r16E.
I'm wondering what the weight difference would be. I also wonder about the ride quality--would the E-load tires provide a stiffer ride?

It may be a moot point, since I am definitely going with scs f5 wheels, which are 8" wide, and goodyear only recommends up to 7.5" wheels...

Is anybody running the 235/85 r16's? I'd love your feedback!!

E rated tires will have a stiffer ride. Especially when you air them up to conserve your MPGs on the road. It's a trade off for the functionality of the heavier tire for gravel roads and off road. At least that's how I see it.

Mine are at 32 front and 29 rear. I air up the rear tires to 35 when towing.

Thanks- I've always run C rated tires, and I would stick with them, but I am lured by the tall/skinny profile of the 235/85's. On duratracs I think it works out to 9.3 inches wide, 31.7 inches high.
Coming from the 31/10.5r15's I've always run on my '01, the 265/75r16's will be a little taller anyway. I'll probably stick with the more common size.

I drive on very bad 4x4 forest service roads, but not "trails," so I'd rather stay away from the E's if possible.

I used to run mine around 42. Seemed to be a good mix of MPG and soft ride.

Yep that's about where I settled in with my Cs. I chalk tested a ton of different psi settings with mine and got favorable footprints from 20s up to high 40s. I still got tanks with 20 and 21 mpgs during ambient temps.
