Those are lug centric. Many people run them hard with no problems. However, it would be very difficult to argue that they are as strong as hub centric. I have and recommend hub centric spacers. My hubs, spacers, and rims are locked together by both the inner rings and the lugs. I consider it insurance.

Some people will go on and on about how your wheels are going to fall off if you use lug centric spacers. Can it happen, sure. Funny thing though, all of the aftermarket rims that I know of are lug centric. It's the exact same thing and I don't see all of their wheels sheering lugs. Not to mention, many automobile manufacturers (probably most), send their vehicles, including trucks, to the showroom floor with lug centric design. Their wheels aren't falling off either.

Edit: Regarding the "Spacers wear down bearings faster argument", If the hub, spacer, and rim are securely locked together, your bearings won't wear down any faster than they would with an equivalently backspaced rim alone.

Most the wheels for the tacoma are Lug centric. thats why i recommend the shanked lug nuts. Though they may not work for some wheels. That spacer is definitely not hub centric to the wheel. but, it may be where it connects to the hub. The way to tell is if the center fit snugly to the ring molded into the hub. What brand are they?

OK.... lets get this clear.... when most guys talk about running lug centric they are talking about the wheel not a spacer. you have two connections here. One where the spacer connects to the hub and that should most definitely be hub centric. then you have the connection where the wheel connects to the spacer. that does not really need to be hub centric because most wheels for the tacoma are not hub centric and it wont matter.

    A few bolts are different.
does the inside of bore of the spacer fit tightly around the little lip on the hub? Also the lugs that hold on the spacer are the conical, not flat like the mounting surface on the stock lug nut?

 just on more reason to get spidertrax spacers so there is no confusion flying round.

The surface where the wheel mounts to the spacer in the pic above looks to abasolutly be lug centric. Not a good idea to use your stock wheels with this spacer.

If lug centric was that dangerous, I don't think they would be so readily available in the aftermarket. It would be a lawsuit waiting to happen. If somebody told you that you need lug centric, they are incorrect. Factory oem is hub centric.

If you are confused, I'd suggest that you err on the side of caution and sell/return yours and buy hub centric Spidertrax. Peace of mind is a good thing.

And seriously dude. You should stick to 1 thread. Your questions will get answered. You have 4 threads going on the same subject. One is even in the completely wrong forum.

correct! lug centric is not dangerous when used correctly. Things get dangerous (also where spacer get a bad name from) when people use/match them incorrectly with their current application. This is possibly one of those instances.

Edit: here is a sale that will end your troubles

Do you have factory or after market wheels? Only factory wheels require hubcentric spacers.

okay guys thanks for all your help i went and took those spacers off today and got my $ back. I def understand the diff between hubcentric and lugcentric spacers now. i was not confortable with all that weight being on just those lugs so im getting some hubcentric spacers now. Ive heard spidertrax is the best so im looking to get them. I liked how my truck looked with the 1.5'' but ive heard alot of guys on here running 1.25''. What do yall suggest? and im having trouble finding spidertraxx there all out of stock everywhere.

anyone know where to get hub centric rings? not spacers...

not sure on size off hand. I have slight vibrations at 45-50mph, thinking my after market rims may be the cause? I don't know the brand of rims, bought the truck used back in August. Replaced right front bearing and wanting to get rid of the vibes so I don't have to do bearings any time soon again.

I just want to know the same- if lug-centric spacers are supposedly dangerous, why are they so readily available? Furthermore, whats any more dangerous about using a lug centric spacer than using a lug centric aftermarket rim? Seems like the same thing to me.
