Typically a softer compound that will wear out faster when used on bare pavement and in warmer conditions.

winter tires

Snow tires are safe to use in the summer, but you will wear them down a lot faster. My brother, who does about 4,000 miles a year, leaves them on all year and gets about three years out of them. So you can do either, just depends on how much cash you have for tires

Run Dunlop Graspics for winter on the wife's Mazda 3s. Awesome in cold and snow, NOT on warm dry roads.

As temps rise above freezing, the rubber compund which is meant to be pilable in the cold gets soft, if really warm, really soft.

All Handling...Accelerating, braking, cornering, really suffers. Also they will wear fast and your mpg suffers.

I would not run those thru the summer. Save them for winter where they belong.
