    I like tall skinny tire's for some reason. If you have a taco with 235/85/16's I would like to see what it looks like to make sure I dont want to go another route! Thanks

    235/85 16s are same diameter as 265/75s just narrower (better for snow)

    I actually prefer narrow tires. they usually seem to have more bite

    i do want to see 255/85s too. I really want to see what trimming is involved and see how they rub at full flex.

    ive heard the narrower 255 doesnt need after market ucas and only a 2-3 in lift. id rather let someone with them tell me they dont rub than have to deal with it by buying them and having to butcher my truck. Id need regear with my 4 banger too so i think ill go with 235/85s first lol

    Im curious as well. I have the 255/85/16's and they do rub a bit on compression but not that bad.

    where do they rub? your a first gen. and your truck looks bad ass with those 255s on your build page. hows the gas mileage?

    i see alot of people with 285/75s im sure the 255/85 rub alot less.

    Milage dropped maybe 2 MPG overall and the rubbing is mostly on the inner plastic in the fender well and a bit on the frame rails at full lock. I had to do the pinch weld mod to get rid of most of the rubbing.

    Remember though that the 255's are actually 33.3" tall and the 285's are around 32.7".

    jason demello from demello offroad showed me 35s on an fj with no rubbing. 3 in lift and modified body mount. no frame rubbing though

    FJ have more room than a Tacoma in the wells, they come stock with bigger tires too.

    For expedition and trail running 255s would be better than 285s.

    I would think daily driving as well because they tires are lighter(relative to 285) and the truck is therefore easier to slow and speed up. Also they won't stick out so less rock chips if any at all. This is 99% going to be my next tire in km2.

    To the op if you want to see some 255's here you go. There are more pics through out the thread. TacoDoc says there's very little rubbing even with flex. I think he said the only metal rub he has is at full lock in reverse on the uca. I would like to know if the tires rub the body mounts with a TC uca because I believe those push the wheel back a little bit in the well.

    Yeah I've seen that article. I would think with them being lighter than something wider and the same height they would be easier to stop and accelerate. Good point about the stability.
