I am getting a 3" lift for my truck AAL for the rear. I havent decieded on what wheels tires to go to. I posted a thread and it got moved to wheels tires which knowone goes to. So hopefully it stays here with my 2nd Gen brothers. I was wondering if an 18" rim is too big for a 33" tire and if so is a 17X10 rim too wide for a 33x12.50 with a 3" lift 4.65 back spacing? I dont want the tire rim to stick out too wide and i dont want it flush with the fenderwell. Like an inch or so outside the fender for a nice stance. I know there has been a lot of thoughts and opinions about tires wheels for 3" lifts for 2nd Gen taco's. I think i am going to switch to BFG AT's 305/65R17...if i do that i will go 17x8 but i would like a little tire sticking out and i dont want the tire to look really round. More squared off. Also i dont want the rim to look too wide for the tire... I have a few different tire wheel combos. Wanted your opinion on wheel tires. I will trim and dont really care if I have to trim.

I think there are a lot of people running 18" with 33" tires. When you say too big do you mean the rims will be too wide for the tires or do you mean the tire sidewall will be too small? I haven't seen anyone with 17x10 or 18x10 yet so I can't help you there, but there are plenty here that has 18x9 with 33" tires.

Ya i was thinking 18X9 but i wasnt sure if the side wall would be too short. So i was going to go with a 17" rim but i couldnt find the rim i wanted 9" wide. just 8" or 10". i didnt know if the 10" rim would be too wide for the tire. I might go 17x8 i dont know i havent decieded. If anyone has pictures that would be much apprechated!!!

I think 18" or 17" is your own preference. One might think an 18" rim has the perfect size sidewall then another member may think the sidewall is too small. It depends on your taste mostly. More sidewall for off-roading. A lot of people here would agree on 17" wheels because of the off-roading. And also because the tires and wheels get more expensive once you get to bigger wheels.

Ya i wont be doing much offroading, If i go 17" i will go the Eagle alloy series 137 Polished with blakc beadlock. but if i go 18" i will go XD Addict Black or the Method Race wheel in Black In either BFG AT's or The new General Grabbers with Orange/Red side wall writing.

Im running a 33x12.5 on 18's with no problem. You will have to do some cutting though so they dont rub

Personally, 10" wide is too wide.
I say, 16's-18's whatever you prefer. And a 8-9" width along with 4-4.5" BS and -12mm to 0mm offset.

If your going to be offroad a lot, i wouldn,t use 18" wheels. [Not enough sidewall] If your going to spend most of your time on the street then 18,s are ok. I,m running 16-8 inch with 285-75-16 tires on a 4.5 bs.They only stick out about an inch.. A 285-75-16 is = to about a 11.50-33.:D

Ill try and get some better pics up for you. I really dont remember what the offset is, but i know its a 18x9 rim. I might have the paper work laying around the house. If you do go with a 12.5 wide you are gonna have to trim the cab mounts. I knew that from the get go, so it was not a problem for me, but some people dont want to cut on their truck.

If your going with an 18" wheel, get them with a -12mm offset. I think that equals out to like a 4.5" backspacing. Thats what I have on my truck. I just had to remove the front mud guards and did some minor trimming around the front wheel wells. Nothing a dremel cant fix.;)

Ya i will do some cutting, And to Vidman thats for the photos, your truck looks sweet! I might try and do some more research on wheels. i think i have narrowed it down to 3 different wheels, and 3 different tires..
