Will 16" wheels fit on a Sport that came with 17's?

Yesterday I went down to 4wheel parts and was talkin about a wheel tire package and the guy said I can't go with 16" wheels on my truck because the brake caliper will hit. Now I'm thinking he's full of crap, the sport and off road came with the same brakes RIGHT?

Here's my dilema; KM2's are on national back order and Dick Cepecks mud terrain don't come in 285/75-17 so I want to go with 285/75-16's.
Any ideas from you guys?

I think most 16's fit....and you do realize the a 285/75R16 is smaller than a 285/75R17 right??

 

Are you talking about smaller as in width? or diameter?
for example, the km2's in a 16 are listed as a 33.1" and the 17 is listed as a 33" tall tire.
In the Cepeck Mud's the 16 is a 33.2" and the 33x12.5-17 is a 32.8(i think)
Would the truck look stupid going with the 16? what about an 18?

 

I'd go with a 16 all day long.

And it'll be about 1/2 an inch of height loss and 1 inch in diameter. Tires vary from model to model too. But with a 285/75 you are keeping the same tread width and sidewall aspect, but will have an inch less diameter from the rim.
