Help understanding rim fitment

I have a 2010 Tacoma Dbl Cab 4x4 with the SR5 pkg - has the stock 16" steel rims. I love the look of hte 17' TRD sport rims and was looking to pick up a used set through this forum - my question is can I safely assume a direct fit with no spacers or anything necessary? Also - since those are 17" - how do I figure out what size tire to put on without impacting the speedometer calibration? Thanks in advance. James

 

The 17's will fit with no issues (unless you buy them with a tire already mounted that's bigger than 265/70/17).

If you want to keep the stock tire size, go with a 265/65/17. If you want a more agressive look, you can fit 265/70/17's with no issues on stock suspension. Many have reported that their speedometer is actually more accurate with the one large tire size over stock.

 

I found this at Jegs.com. It is expensive but so are speeding tickets. Of course if you are in the woods I don't think there are to many cops with radar guns out there. For those of us who stay on the pavement you can now fill the wheelwell and still have an accurate speedo reading.

Honestly, you will not notice a significant difference in speedo maybe 1-3mph if you stick near stock tire sizes.
