Replacing OE Dunlops, tire to match Countersteer offroad? 265/75/16

K here's the situation:

Oe dunlops are getting low, so I'm about to pull the trigger on some new tires and wheels. Decided to get the Konig Countersteer Offroad and I want 265/75/16s to match. I drive mostly highway and this is my first truck so I'm clueless as to what will/wont kill my gas mileage, etc.

Any recommendations? I read the sticky and I am looking at:

Nitto Terra Grapplers
BFG Rugged Trail TA
Goodyear DuraTrac C

Realistically I just want something that will look good with the Konigs and won't kill my mileage.

 

i am in this same situation for the exact same wheel. if you are worried about gas mileage and looks go with the duratrac in the c load. it only weighs 45lbs which is 10 more than the stock tires (my 265/65/17 stock tires). the countersteers are probably one of the lightest truck wheels out there at 18lbs which is 7.5lbs lighter than my stock sport wheels. with that setup you are almost as light as the stock setup.

i am tossed up between the 265/75/16 duratracs and the 285/75/16 grabber at2. i don't know if the extra 10lbs per wheel and rubbing hassle is worth the looks of a 285 width.

Can someone tell me realistically what the difference will be between:

DuraTrac C
Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10

I know the C will have a stiffer sidewall than the Hankooks, will the Hankooks feel stiffer than the OE Dunlops? Just trying to justify the jump in price between the 2..

I went from the stock Dunlop 245/75r16's to the Hankook Dynapro ATM's 265/75r16's. I got the passenger rated tire and each only weighs 6 lbs more than the stock Dunlops (more aggressive tread and bigger tire). Definitely noticeable difference on the traction. Have had them offroading twice (once was yesterday - check NJ Tacos thread for pics). Here is a pic of how it sits with stock suspension and then how it sits now with the Bilstein 5100's leveling it out up front. Great tire. I noticed about a .5 mpg loss with the bigger tires and lifted front end. I've actually just adjusted my driving habits (recently acquired an UltraGauge) and have been able to offset the difference.

On another note, one of the members who was with us yesterday had the Duratracs. They're an awesome tire and excellent performer. Only downside is the weigth and price.

 

Looks great man! The price was so cheap in comparison, got mine for like $96 each at Tires Plus here in FL.

 

Whoops, didn't realize how long ago your first post was and that you already bought them. I ended up paying $114 each for mine online.

Edit: I gotta start paying more attention. I read where you put that you went with the Dynapro's but I didn't realize it was you. Thought it was someone else giving their opinion.
