tire recommendations with stock 16" rims?

I have an 05 SR5 with the 4 cylinder motor and am currently running P215/70R15 on 16 inch stock rims. They look like little car tires honestly and I want to beef it up a bit. I eventually plan on a 3" lift but not right now. I would like to go all terrain and was wondering how big i could go without the lift and while keeping the same rims.

 

Probably 265/75 16's with no problem.
Anyone wanna confirm?

A 265/75-16 depending on the load rating might be a little heavy for the 4 cylinder. If you go with a tire with a load rating of "C" (6 ply) you might be all set since they wont be as heavy and hard for your motor to turn. I found that Falken makes a great all terrain called the high country and they make a 265/75/-16 with a load range "c". So not only do they have a more aggressive tread, but they are light enough so you wont kill your gas mileage and acceleration. Just my .02

P.S. The Falken's seem to be reasonably priced compared to the competition

 

the Falken he is referring to might be the brand exclusive to Discount Tire known as the Rocky Mountain ATS, or the Wild Peak A/T. It features a 3 ply sidewall, which is what the BFG AT's have always had, but few have tried to imitate. It also features a 50,000 mile warranty. They're typically 25-50 a tire CHEAPER than the BFG, depending on the market. Direct has them at 159 a tire.
