get different wheels or buy new tires...idk post a pic and more details such as wheel and tire sizes..offset? bs?

 

like the wheels 17/9 12 mm offset5.4 backspace 285/70/17 the truck only has the rev tec level kit with add a leaf

 

Hmm 17x9 wheels with 4.5 bs. I think the 4.5 only works for an 8" rim and if you go 9" wide then you need more bs. Someone hopefully will chime in soon to add some input

was that 5.4 or 4.5?

Actually it might be the offset. You start with 4.5 bs then with the offset you lose ~ 1/2" which might be the issue.

L represents where the lugs attached wheel to the hub

what about spacers?

 

spacers would help if its rubbing the lca at full turn. another thing to think if its only full lock then i wouldnt worry about it lol

well coilovers arent going to do anything for lca clearance (i dont think). new uca's will just allow a little more travel and alignment spec over 2.5".

I am trying to think if coilovers would do anything but i dont think so. You raise the truck but the wheels will suck in a little bit...ya i dont see that helping the lca rubbing issue

I'm sorry but this is completely wrong. Backspacing is calculated by using rim width and offset. They are not independent of one another.

If you have 9" wide rims with +12mm offset, then you have 5.5" Backspacing.
If you have 9" width rims with -12mm offset, then you have 4.5" backspacing.

The fact that you are rubbing is not surprising. In order to fit the 285's, you need 4.5" backspacing or less, and you need to trim some plastic and possibly cut the body mount.

 

Thats for that so I was right but with the wrong mentality. From what I posted...OOPS I just noticed for the last one I accidentaly went the wrong way...the L should be to the outside not inside.

With what I posted Kieth I MEANT to show that the offset takes away from (adds positive to) the BS meaning that the BS is actually that much more.

 

Actually the L on the the last two should not move. Both of those wheels are 9" wide and have 4.5" backspacing, so they are identical. However, the last one shoudl say -12mm offset, not +12.

 

Why wouldnt the mounting point move between the last 2 if the mounting point is offset 12 mm to the front of the rim?

Yeah it's a little confusing, but the deal is that "backspacing" is just a term that is calculated by using rim width and offset.

Example: a 9" wide rim with +12mm offset, by default has a backspacing of 5.5".

That same rim, in order to have 4.5" backspacing, would need to have a -12mm offset.

So the third scenario you posted is impossible, because a 9" rim with +12mm offset doesn't have 4.5" Backspacing, it has 5.5" BS.

 

I know isn't it sweet?....I studied it for days before buying my rims, because mine are an odd size, 18x9, +10mm offset, and I couldn't find anyone else running that combo of specs.
