Tire Upgrade Questions

Hi -
I know there are many posts on the site about tire upgrades but I have 2 questions for those who have recently upgraded their Tacoma tires.

I'm looking at putting BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO's on my 2010 Tacoma TRD double cab. I currently have stock Dunlop Grandtrek AT20's that are P265/65/17 but I want to put LT 275/65/17 BFG's.

Question 1 - Will there be any rubbing or adjustments needed as the BFG tires are slightly wider/bigger?

Question 2 - Will I notice any ride differences running LT-rated tires vs P-rated tires?

If you could help me out, I would appreciate it.

I've actually never seen a 275/65/17 tire before....

Thanks for the help - I just checked the BF Goodrich site and they have the BFG All-Terrain T/A KO listed in LT 275/65/17.
Not sure how available they are...but it sounds like it might not work?

 

Go with the 265/70/17. Much more common in the event of a blowout or other road hazard. And yes, you will notice a stiffer ride, due to the increase of sidewall plies (plural for ply). If you go with a Load Range C (also known as a 6 ply) you won't notice as much difference as a Load Range E (10 ply). Simply put, if you go LT, the further in the alphabet, the stiffer the ride.
