285/70/17 or 265/70/17

Got my toytec 3" lift with AAL's. So I'm undecided on the tire size. Should I go for what discount tire suggests when you enter your truck model, which is 265/70/17 or 285/70/17's like most people on this board are running anyways.

Also I'm undecided between BF Goodrich AT's or the Hankook MT's. Hadn't heard of Hankook until recently but from the reviews on discount tire it seems like most people are happy. Here's the link for the tire.

either tire will work with the 3 inch lift, but depending on wheel, you may need to lose the mud flaps and do a bit of trimming with the 285's.

the bfg's and hankooks are both nice tires, but completely different. one you listed is an a/t.....one is an m/t. mileage, wear and ride will be different on both. i personally would rather have an a/t tire if im gonna be on the road alot with them, but thats just me. alot of people have different m/t tires and drive on the road quite a bit and are happy with them. now that being said...i'd love to have a nice set of the hankook m/t's for wheeling!!

 

Not sure if those particular tires come in it but you could go inbetween the two with a 275/70/17.

 

I vote for 275/70/17! Thats what I am running on a 3" lift. Great choice IMHO. Since you save .5" I believe you have more suspension travel, and your tires won't rub at full stuff, nor will you have to take off your mud flaps. Just my $.02

Fact: 275/70/17 = 32.2"

285/70/17 = 32.7"

Thanks for the info guys. I would consider 275/70/17 but the styles and manafactures are really limited in this size category.

I know there's differences between the MT's and AT's but from reading some reviews on discount tire direct, one particular person who's owned both says that as far as road noise the Hankook's MT's have the same noise as the BF's AT's.

I contacted a dealer in town and he said a friend dropped off a set of Hankook 285/70/17's Dynapro's because he took off a truck he sold and they only have 500 to 1000 miles on them. They still have the nubs and the dealer says the guy want's around 500 bucks for the set of 4. That's one main reason I was considering this brand.

My original choice would be BF's AT ko's 285/70/17 as seen on baldtaco's truck.
