Tire size help?

    I have 285 70 17 KM2 tires and rub to much even with my lift. I have 4.88 gears and a 6 speed to boot so my rpm get a little high.I have considered a 255 85 16 but they are pricey and they will still probably rub?I want to know if I went from a 32.5 tire (my 285 70 17 s') to a 235 85 16 or a 265 70 16 that is only 31.5 tall if it would help or hurt my MPG. I will be going to an A/T tire and also saving about 15 lbs each wheel. My RPms' will go up about 200-400 because of a smaller tire but what do you guys think ,will I help myself with fuel consumption?Thanks

    What is the backspacing of your rims, and the specs of your lift?

    Did you trim any fender well plastic? Chop the cab mount?

    Backspace is 4.5 and no trimming witch I really dont care about the rubbing, the issue is I want to better my mpg . My question is more about running the different tire sizes and gear ratio I have to get the best MPG?

    Higher RPMs are going to use more gas, but your driving style is going to make more of a difference. I wouldn't be running 4.88's unless I had 295+'s mounted.

    The question I have for you is, why did you regear?

    Bought the truck that way, and i got a great deal so my question is What tire size do you think I should run to help myself for MPg's with my set up not factory gears? Thanks

    If you drive off road I would run Load range C, AT tires. If you are always on the road choose high quality P rated truck tires. You are going to have better results running bigger tires, I would probably stick with a 285/70 17.

    Engage Offroad long travel front and rear with some fat tires.
    with 4.88s, 35" or 37" tires...

    i have seen a couple tacos running 4.88 on 33s and they were burning up rubber pretty bad...

    what do you mean burning up rubber? Are they wearing any faster than normal ?
