another backspace question
I have been following the many threads on offset and back spacing. It seems that 4.5" bs is the standard for 6"lifted 05+ tacos. Question - how far out of the fenders will a rim 20x9, 4.5 bs, -12mm offset and 275/65/20 vs 20x10, 4.56 bs, -24mm offset same tires, will it rub the UCAs

The rim is an inch wider with the same backspacing, so the 20X10 tire will stick out an extra 1/2". Not sure if it would hit the UCA or not.

If the rim is the same backspacing but 1" wider, it will stick out 1" further, not 1/2".

If the backspacing is the same, then all of the increased rim width is on the outer edge of the rim.

If your getting 275's don't buy a 10" wide wheel the side wall is not going to look good, stick with the 9"

And a 20/9 with a 4.5bs shouldn't stick out much the FJ rims are 8" wide with a 4.5bs and 285's don't stick out too far.

Hmm maybe I thought about that wrong,. For some reason I was thinking the extra inch would be split between inside and outside of the wheels. Makes sense now yes, if bs stays the same, the inner portion of the wheel will stay the same distance away and the extra inch would be on the outer edge.

Yeah you were thinking that for the same offset, the extra inch gets split into two. Backspacing already takes that into account.

thanks a lot for the helpful info. guys. it's hard to find pics of wheel and tire shots from above fender. just don't want tires sticking out too far. :)
