    Hi all -

I am upgrading from the stock steelie wheels and 16" tires on my 2010 DC 4x4 to 17" TRD Sport rims and 17" tires.

I had intended to keep the existing 16" spare until I could find a cheap enough 17" figuring this is a local truck only never on highway and a flat situation could be addressed quickly.

One thought I did have is that I do know I needed different style lug nuts for the 17" - if I did have a flat - would these lugs fit the 16" steel spare or do I need to retain a set of 6 lugs from the steelies incase?

    Thanks! James

if i remember correctly, the steelies use acorn style lugs and the trd sport uses shank style lugs. however, i think the ends of the stock toyota shank lugs are tapered so they will work on the steel spare.

btw, you do not need to upgrade your current 16" spare. if anything just get the appropriate size tire if you are upsizing on the 17s.
