275/65R18 Will It Fit?

New to this site, looking for some experience and wisdom. Currently my Tacoma is a stock SR5 Access cab 4x4. I'm looking to increase my wheel and tire size. I'm considering going with a 275/65R18, however I'm not sure if this will fit without my truck being lifted. So far no one that I've talked to seems to know. The diameter of the tire I'm looking at is 32.1 inches. Does anyone out there know if this tire size will fit -- without rubbing?

I'll let you know in the next week. I'm putting Duratrac's on in that size, but have yet to do my lift (which is sitting in my extra bedroom).

It should be pretty close since the largest size we can run on the stock suspension is either 265/70-17 or 275/65-16.

 

stock 265/75r16 is the biggest you can go with out rubbing.

Edit: a 265/75 is a 31.54 inch tire. a 275/65R18 is a 32” tire. you may have to trim a little bit and than you may still rub on full lock. but not 100% it will even work at all!!

 

Slapped the 275/65-18 Duratrac's on today and while it's close....I did have to trim about 2" off the bottom of the front flares.

OZ-T - 5" backspacing, 0mm offset on the BFD's, but no rub thankfully. Whew!

Kidd, your pics just sold me on the 275/65R18. Looks tough! Do you have any pics of the trimming you did so I have an idea of what needs to be done? I appreciate the help!

 

They're 1/2" more narrow than a 285.....best of all worlds IMO.

Here's the pics of the trimming I did. The front inner fender is all clear. If anything I would have to trim more of where I already started.

 

I take it this is the rear side of the front inner fender flare? Is the trimming you did visible/noticeable? It doesn't look like you had to take much off. What did you use to do it? Do you get any rubbing anywhere now that you've taken the 2inches of plastic off?

 

Yep rear of the front flare. Is it visible? Yes. Is it noticeable? Not particularly. I used a dremel with a cut off wheel and a sanding barrel to finish it off. No more rubbing so far but I haven't put more than 20mi on it since I made the initial cuts.

 

Well keep me posted if you have to make anymore mods before you throw the lift on there. I have the Duratracs and a set of Procomp 7036 flat black wheels on order. They should be here and mounted by Saturday. I appreciate all your help.

Thanks. The wheels are Pro Comp 7036 series. The specs are as follows:

• 18 x 9, 6 on 5.5 Bolt Pattern
• Backspace = 5

 

So I just picked up the same set up your running other than I'm running the general at2 tire. Did you have any rubbing issues with the 5 inch back spacing?

 

Sorry for just now getting back to you. Yes, when I first installed I had some rubbing issues. I used a dremal to cut out about 2 inches of plastic. You can't even tell when looking at it and no more rubbing.
