Cooper ATP review

since theres not many reviews out there on this tire, ill update this thread as i put more miles on the tires.
Picked up a set of 285/75/16 Cooper ATP tires yesterday, the tire is made by cooper for discount tires

Initial impression, tread design seems promising, decent siping, and i think they will do great on the trail and acceptable on the rocks for being an all terrain tire.

road noise: there is a very slight hum that is present, but with the windows up it is hardly noticeable.

Road manners: wether its a combination of the suspension or the tires or a combination of both, the ride feels firm and planted in the turns, over pot holes. have yet to drive in rain or snow, estimate that there will be snow on the ground again by wednesday.

will get more pictures up in the outdoors and not the parking garage where i live.

 

Am curious to hear how you like these. I've had plenty of Coopers in the past and have been eyeing these up. Keep us posted.

total bill for 4 mounted/balanced with tire replacement warranty was $908.11, i thought it was a fair price, and they have a 55k mile warranty if im not mistaken

 

Mine held up well in light-mild off roading. I have around 15k on mine so far with No issues and wearing well

 

Gravel/Dirt roads: went to my friends house today and there is about 2 miles of gravel/dirt road to get to his house, noticed the ATPs will pick up some stones while driving and then they get let go at around 40mph... no affect on handling on dirt road, just a quick observation.

 

also, as far as looks go, there are no crazy side wall lugs, but looking at them head on, they look pretty dang "tough" no complaints whatsoever as far as visuals go...

dang, well hopefully it was a one time issue. i get no vibes at all and have been up to 80mph with no vibes between 0-80.

 

I have the at3 and no problems at all. Also have run the ltz with no problems. Cooper is a great tire

 

went out in some fresh snow today, great traction in damn near everything, patches of ice on the road would cause a very brief "slide/jerk/skid" but never out of control. plows through 4-6" snow just fine, even went off onto a 4x4 trail that was riddled with small loose rocks and covered in snow, absolutely no problems of any kind, (Slipping, spinning, sliding).


i even did abrupt left and right turns of the wheel to try to force it to slide out, would just track in relation to the direction of the way the tires were pointed and never broke loose to cause a spin.

need to finish the cab mount chop so i can go get some real off road time in with the tires

 

going in for Cab mount chop on wednesday, then getting the truck re-aligned thursday or friday, will have off road report on the tires by next weekend.

tires handle great and are very quite!

 

reviving this old thread because I think this tire does not get enough positive attention. I have it in 265-75r16 on my 2001. runs true, generally quiet, good on and off road capability, even in slick mud. I've had no time in deep mud over 3-4 inches. So far I really like it. Maybe 5000 miles to date. looks like new and I live way down a bad dirt/rock road. its an excellent value in tires.

An update on my set. Plenty more offroad trips, but did manage to cut the inside sidewall on a phanton rock. Didn't see anything that would sliced it open like it did ; oh well, replaced it. They are still quiet and are handling the rain quite nicely. After over a little more than a year, they are starting to show their age. Most of it though came from bad alignments for 6 of those months and I do a lot of urban city driving. The other factor being a lot of offroading. I think i laid a 1/16th on one trail climbing out. With that, I might be to get 20k out of them.

Would I get them again? Sure, for the price they are hard to beat. But for my needs, I may need something a little more heavy duty; like the ST/MAXX.
